i found a vault and made it all the way to the bottom just to discover that the slab wasn't there, then i revealed the map with dfhack and found that the room with the slab is inaccessible...

time to boot up advfort and dig it out or find the switch that opens that room.

Hmmm, I'm going to go check on Cathelms after the Zombocalypse first... but I'll keep an eye out for this army (never did find it, but checking legends reveals Olin died back in 169).

The last survivor of Cathelms was the mayor who got knocked out by malodorous slime and fell into a cage trap. I ghosted him to shut it all down as I intended to come back and talk to him.

He was also bummed about being confined... what a downer.

Couldn't make him follow me either, invoking didn't work, carrying him in the cage didn't work. Very sad.

Lots of zombies around, hope I didn't do this.

Found some goblin refugees camping on the glacier, the horrible evil glacier with stinking slime rain.

Killed them, several of them got back up, I'm not living myself so they just hung out.

Found a dark fortress, nobody in it, checked upstairs to see if the demon was busy killing the lord of the place.


The bottom demon is the lord, top one is the master, heck of a thing.

You can't see in this shot but these goblins are all running back home after I cleared the rightful inhabitants.

You see, those goblins were living in a necro tower and I was collecting slabs...


Can't help but wonder if these are related to Cathelms falling, the legends says they were animated by a different necro but they're covered with malodorous slime and fighting each other?

Hmmm.

I found a slab on a trade depot, actual secrets slab and all that jazz... pick it up, carry it around, wind up back at that fort later... slab is there again.

I can only have one in my inventory and one visible on the ground, but I was able to drop them off at other sites and have them remain, so I did the obvious thing: I built one at a fort with advfort and tried to build a second beside it, intending to cover the whole fort if I could.

It didn't crash me like I expected, but my plans were stifled by the building being moved.

...In other news, I'm experiencing severe stability issues with the new update, lots of crashes on worldgen, and, interestingly, on attempting to compose a song.

Yeah... I've been getting a few crashes when attempting to generate a world as well. Normally after the world is finished and the two weeks afterwards is what really does it.
It was to be expected.
After all, this is a pretty interesting update.

Yep. the exploring I've managed to do looks downright awesome.

For me, worldgen mainly seems to crash when placing civs and while saving after completion.

It's funny that a three worlds I've genned so far have been crash-free.

Is the fact that my computer is a potato somehow making this game more stable? o3o
