When I canceled our agreement he vanished into thin air. What is going on?

What causes that to happen, by the way? I've seen that when companions clone themselves on the same tile. Didn't know cancelling the agreement caused them to vanish, though...

this might happen if the site remembers your adventurer as a unit.
so it tries to load in that unit as a npc all forgetting hey you are kinda playing that character and doubles down.
and since you are technically controlling that unit their movements are sync up.
this happens with nobles at keeps as well if you pulled one away from a site and told them to wait somewhere else then return to the spot you recruited them from and see another.

Went back to an abandoned fort, killed a forgotten beast, butchered it and now I have a new goal; to eat its entire body (the meaty parts). Picked up 297 meat and 5 hearts, brought my speed down to 0.134

My adventurer is a Swordsdwarf who is a lady of a place she abandoned, her traveling companions are too drunk to accept the status of Hearthsperson and we just travel the world while hunting things and murdering elves, so far the most sound of my runs (second most sound was where I decided to go to a Dark Fortress then died by falling down a waterfall)

My dwarf manipulated the army of the living dead to go outside of the tower and I'm currently going around raising corpses and such and heading to a tomb, so there's not really much going around unless you count those murdered by my necromancing.

I was fighting a bunch of modded flamethrower wielding bandits. One of them hit me. Normally I would have been able to escape easily, but an injured bandit was grappling and pinned us in the fire until we were both incinerated.

There's supposed to be a cave somewhere behind those legions of amphibian men. I tried to move, but the game took forever to process that mass of a:s.

I modded an amphibian man civilization to the game. They build villages but also like to hang out in caves. Apparently a bit too much of the latter..
