True, as I learned next turn. Managed to decapitate him, but the chipped lower leg bone handicapped my character and let two lashers take care of him.

Yep. I've instakilled demons with it, but...not zombies.

Too bad it's also less than ideal against hydrae. They go through goblin adventurers like popcorn. ;w;

EDIT: FFFF-

The Dragon bites you in the thorax and the injured part is torn apart!
An artery has been opened by the attack!
You have been struck down.

Strange. In older versions, (untested in this one) I used to hit zombies once, anywhere, on any part of their body, with a whip, and they'd just go down. I didn't really understand.

In DF2012, right?

DF2014 lacks that delicious HP system for undead. Headshots from a whip are good for chipping the skull and braining the target, but for the new pulping damage, contact area is a good thing. Out of all the blunt weapons I tested, the whip performed the worst. If I recall I THINK it was the flail and warhammer that did best.

It should still work decently against vampire though. See? Castlevania got it right. o3o

I beat a Tiger Woman Recruit unconscious so I could suck her blood, and did so. Then I thought I should give her the nickname "Désolée", and then I decided to knock out all of her teeth to make her more recognizable.

Then I realized something odd about her.

She's kinda... got two extra thumbs, and four extra fingers. For some reason. Is this natural? Am I missing something?

DF has figured out how to make anthropomorphic polydactyl cats? D:

It is terrifying.

Meanwhile in my efforts to assemble a posse of kobold bandits, I infiltrate the nearby half-ruined hillock to inquire about any skulking vermin valiant robin-hood types.

Well, guess that explains why you're busy drowning your sorrows even harder than the average dorf. Poor guy...er wait, gal. :V

EDIT: Having found no evidence of future comrades in the dwarven sphere of influence, I decided to travel north to a human hamlet. Exited fast travel to cross a river...pack of dingos right behind me. ;w;

EDIT 2: Huehuehue. Since I exited in stealth, only one noticed me. No, bad pup.

EDIT 3: Meh. I can take this town without a posse. Claimed the site and slew the lady ruling it. And then made a figurine of a kobold out of her teeth.

Companions seem more given to bravery when you have a small Rumrusher warband. Maybe that's just more chances for positive reactions to "insert creature name," but when you only travel with two there's generally just flight.

Here there's just 6 of us. Funny thing is the swordswoman makes her fifth notable kill, earns her name, and then just vaunts. Yes, it's just a bear, but I've never seen such enthusiasm from the likes of someone:

And then the pure finality whose seriousness is for once not laughable as it would have been in the snark of the real world:
