I was screwing around in arena mode and discovered that if you ride a minecart into a wall fast enough, you explode.

Things progress, I beat people to death with my disembodied arm and a toy hammer, very amusing. I got into an area with a bunch of soldiers and I started killing them but they never reacted, I told everyone to yield to me and they rushed towards me and my companion, oh dear they didn't like that.

The fight went well, but my companion lost her foot, did she lose it to a swordsman? No, to an axeman? No, she lost it to a freaking merchant, she also has a useless arm which is unfortunate.

I went through, cutting down everyone I could see, mostly hacking them off at the legs with my axe then going for the head with a hammer. This worked rather well, and I'd emptied most of the town, so I went to the river and plains outside to do some hunting to improve my throwing skill. This was going rather peacefully, I'd killed a few animals with hammer tosses. Everything was fine, until a random giant tortoise showed up. It had a name... This tortoise had killed a member of my last fort! My militia commander, to be precise! It had no shell, and it's name was the same! It had come to enact tortoise-y vengeance for the loss of it's shell on me, no doubt. It had brought reinforcements, too. Upon seeing me, it's companions ducked into their shells in an odd formation, obviously planned ahead of time. It blocked me from going away without doing some odd turns, or else I'd have to kill the tortoises inside to go straight forward. Then, I had the shell deprived murderer in my way. I charged at him, tossing my hammer, but it just sailed by. Drawing my axe, I prepared for combat, hacking at it's legs. I cut some of the skin. The tortoise bit my arm, severing a motor nerve. I smashed him over the head with my shield, it biting my arm again. Throwing the shield point blank and hurting his leg, I picked up my axe and swung at his leg again. It was an easy hit, and the leg went sailing off! Vengeance was mine! I put away the axe, and showed the tortoise just what it felt like to be bitten. I bit him for a few minutes in game time, and he woke up, but passed out from the pain right after. Then, seeking more satisfaction, I went over to his companions. I raised my axe and struck another, and the shell fell off. Suddenly, with the shell gone, a crazed tortoise was once again attacking me. I had no shield this time, and couldn't properly block bites with my axe. He ripped my arm off, and I passed out. This tortoise killed me in cold blood, ripping my face off. Now, two giant tortoises have made fools of me. And they both travel together... I will have vengeance!

I avenged my two fallen guys, killing those turtles. Oddly, they stayed near the same pool, just outside my fortresses reach, for a long time, a few months actually. I went on to attack a purgatory wolf with an inordinate amount of kills. For those of you who don't know, a purgatory wolf is a wolf the size of a rhino, with all his claws, teeth, and bones being iron. I took many, many slashes at it's head with my iron two hand sword, along with my bronze and iron armed pike, sword, and axemen alongside me. We couldn't do anything but chip his bones. He eventually had cut down all but me, and even I'd sustained many cuts and was vomiting everywhere. I lost my sword hand, so I grabbed my steel meat chopper from my bag. It was my only other weapon, and my sword was behind the purgatory wolf. I took two swings and decapitated the purgatory wolf. Well, that's done. So I gathered up all the coins from my dead companions, ate some purgatory wolf meat and took it's skin. This stuff is expensive, so I'll drop it off at a stockpile in my old fort and unretire it. As soon as I left the layer, however, dwarves were around me. Mostly drunks and a few soldiers. They told me that a few hours ago, a goblin civilization had attacked my old fort. I recruited a couple of the passing soldiers, including a spearman carrying my artifact spear... He's not leaving with that thing. Then, I charged at the fortress. I found many goblins swarming it, oddly, half villagers. The baron was gone, I guess he left with the refugees. I began cutting into the swarm, hacking off heads with the meat chopper. It was a very good weapon, but not quite enough. One by one, my companions started to be picked off, except the one with the burning steel artifact spear. I picked up the artifact steel shortsword from the smithies, and continued my assault downwards into the lower halls. Once I'd killed a few more goblins, they started running up the stairs and out of the fort. I chased down as many as I could. I turned to my artifact speardwarf, and cut his head off. He wasn't leaving with that spear. I chose another volcano, not too far away, and within walking distance of a dark pit and a human city. This place will do for my next fort. I laid everything in my inventory on the side of the volcano, not too tall, and then threw myself off a cliff and onto the ground, exploding on impact. I'd been trying to fall into the volcano, but I misjudged. My next fort will also be my own tomb, and will start off with some nice weapons, as well as a suit of large iron armour to melt down.

I was able to find a crutch for my companion, sadly since she only has one functioning army she can't use a weapon and her crutch, I'll keep her around anyway, she's done to much just to leave me now, I also got myself another companion, a swordsdwarf hopefully he will do his job well. I killed a cyclops, I killed another roc and I killed a bronze colossus, I was a bit worried during the colossus fight due to it constantly knocking me down I was very worried when it stunned me, but in the end I was victorious. c:

I decided to take a break from that world and play in a new one, playing as a peasant, I had forgotten just how unforgiving the game can be when your not a superhuman death machine, so many deaths so little time. I had decided to play as a thief and attempt to steal as many peoples pouches as possible, hasn't gone well for me so far. Hopefully that will change, unlikely since I've forbidden myself from using any armor better then leather and only allowing myself to use a knife as a weapon.

I'm playing atm as a peasant, not locally well-known, whose primary weapon is a bow, and also uses 3 knives. There has been much savescumming, especially where rivers were involved.

Try alt-moving out. If that doesn't work, maybe try climbing or something?

I had tried both, but it seems like the lair is disconnected from the universe. I cant even look outside when im near the upward slope.

Can you see outside from one tile back? If so you might be able to climb to a space above and to the whatever direction of you that puts you outside.

Things have not gone well for my attempts of playing as a peasant so I decided to go back to an old form of training I used long ago in the times of 34.11. using crabs as training dummies. Brings back good memories, although I am a bit wary of them since I was killed by a crab once, and the first crab I attacked during training mangled my left eye, fortunately my eye recovered, I'd hate to lose an eye to a crab.

Apparently you can gain skill in wrestling even when the thing your wrestling is unconscious, interesting. Yes I shall become the ultimate warrior! By beating up crabs.

I'd watch wrestling if the loser was in fact devoured by Hulk Hogan. In fact, I'd watch almost anything where that was a factor.
