Tall and conical huh? I haven't got stonesense, but have 2 like that at my current embark, not to mention my volcano being a cut-off cone...

Not like mountains I normally see in adv mode, come to think of it...

Was testing the limits of of survivability for superbuffed dorfs in tip top armor by starting at the base of those mountains and aiming upwards past the trees, and then using gm-editor before exiting look mode to push the projectile speeds up, the 2500000 range is survivable in x/y, pushing the z value up is dangerous because you start bouncing off the sky.

This jump was safe, I caught a tree before hitting the edge of the world:

This one I cut a tree down to change my aim path and then pushed the x speed to -3000000 with a bit less y speed... I hit the edge so hard that when I tried to use full-heal to see how far I went I was STILL flying and blew up again, had to do it again before I had a barely survivable impact with the ocean floor:

This one was neat because it was consistently survivable down this one clear spot of trees:

Though when I pushed my x speed up to 3000000 I still ended up sliding against the sky a bit, hence the wound flashing there after I caught a tree to stop myself:

I find myself saddened by the fact that my decade-old craptop hates mountains too much for exploring them to be worth it. Along with cities and caverns and gobbo forts.

Now from the guy who brought you "what the hell mountains" comes the new pocket sized freakypeak, "dragons claw"!

I was able to test a theory I had, it turns out you do NOT have to touch the ground at the summit:

Just so long as you go over it and touch the ground (and presumably survive, if I had canceled the "grab hold of the tree" choice I would have kersploded) afterwards you get the message, the summit is the left most peak in the claw there, which is at the thin part of the range shown here, I landed where my travel icon is:

I tried to fight a bronze colossus with a bronze short sword. He punched me out of existence after killing my friends.

Eh, they're challenging enough as is, not as bad as the dragons in some ways, but those damn giant scaled clothes you find the deity ones wearing make it a nightmare, I've actually set fires all over the place to get one to chase me through them as I jumped around just so their clothes would burn off!

Also, I made a change to gm-editor to replace the error message by just opening up df.global, which means in mid-air I can pull that up then hit world > proj_list and edit the values for my speed and such mid-flight.

Which means I jumped from the mountain range in the top right to the X cursor on the left:

Now, to make sure I cleared the mountains I added a good deal more z speed to be safe and ended up so high that while I have crossed the black section on the map by the dark fortress, it was not revealed because it was not visible at all.

I finally caught a tree and got the message I had reached the summit of said mountain range:

Which, again, the Silent Tusk is the northeastern peak on that map.

How far is 10 world-map tiles?

I just generated a new world with modified perameters, made an adventurer, and spawned in the main building of the castle in a town. Literally every tile in the room has either a piece of furniture or 2-6 soldiers on it, along with the occasional civvy. Wondering what the heck I messed up, I managed to recruit two swordsmen before lagging my way out the front door, and into the travel screen. The entire city was abandoned or ruined, other than the main keep, is this normal, like a siege mechanic, or did my altering site popcap to 200 rather than 2500 royally screw up everything in existance?

I'm trying the Pocket Megabeast challenge.

There's a hydra at the base of my tree.

Send help.

EDIT: Okay, now it's busy killing a minotaur and an ettin, so I'm running while the running is good. I hope I can get away.
