Hmmm, made a second save until I figure out how to make the demon stick around, retired McLegendary in his fort, his icon changed to that of the executioner (I think I had swapped the graphics to use that for champions) since another dorf became duke while he was out killing nearly a thousand assorted humans, elves, goblins, trolls, dragons, night creatures, titans, and over a hundred bogeymen.
Made another dorf who I was able to start in the fort as well (though due to the uh... magma, I had to find a pick from one of the wagons that kept spawning in the area and make a back door with advfort >.>) and spent too long grabbing assorted armor before I remembered that I had a stockpile with all of the extra stuff left over after I had equipped the military.
After grabbing exceptional steel (and a masterwork helm/breastplate/mail shirt) I grabbed a steel hammer and sword and pick to replace the ones I had started with or scavenged from the area, and went to talk to McLegendary.
I found him hanging around sitting on top of a coffin in the main bedroom area, chatted with him, asked him about the demon he had brought home ("He is master."), asked him about himself ("I am champion."), joined his militia and was tasked with starting some "unofficial trouble" for gobs in a dark pit to the southwest.
After sneaking around and beheading some I actually had real battles on my hand when I finally found a group of more than 1 warrior, because unlike McLegendary this guy was just a demigod (JUST A DEMIGOD) and not a god of smashed skulls, beheaded corpses, and slaughter.
I killed all I could find and headed home after gaining a title, but almost lost it all due to my habitual lack of concern about bogeymen... I killed one, but it took some fighting, and the rest began inflicting bruises, then one bit my back teeth out (yuck) and I said screw it and bolted, barely made it to a nearby hamlet and curled up in a corner to heal. Gotta be more careful about traveling at night now that I'm not a double or triple legendary skilled dorf in artifact armor I guess.
Still, Urist Lovelydoor the Throne of Hide returned home and everyone was quite happy to see me, though they were less than thrilled about the goblin heads, so I just used them for throwing skillups outside on a water buffalo that had some waterskins I wanted...
