Well, I had a chat with an headless vampire a few days ago.

She was just... sitting there. Acting like a dead body, not moving, head marked as missing in the status screen (yes I know, pony mod. It's probably the cause of the bug). But still alive.
Died instantly as soon as I touched her, though.

Also checked in Legends. She got her head bit off by an hydra BEFORE becoming a vampire. And she then managed to get a kill count of around a thousand, all while still headless.

Now I remember why I love this game...

This is going on.

That's right, I bit his hand off and spit it at him so hard his tail was torn off.

It's Nchardahrk, a mod that puts the Elder Scrolls series species and items into the game. Both the enemy and I were Kahjiit, cat-like humanoids native to the deserts of Elsweyr.

Also, I died shortly after that to two lashers. My wrestler disarmed one but the other was too fast, he broke my ankle and the two busted my skull in.

finished crafting me up a set of steal armor (- the gauntlets (wanderer's friend/blacksmith's friend) and thought i'd go beat the shit out of some goblins at a camp, wound up basically dead very quickly, guess i didn't train enough beforehand, was only legendary in throwing and they shot me in the leg, i proceeded to light everything on fire around me and melted along with them. !!FUN!!

300 human/elf/dwarf/goblin/kobold bodies 20 random animal/fish/bird bodies and 3 dragon bodies all in one backpack. fun stuff.

Thats why you sneak when dealing with humanoids,if you want to be fair then kill all the ranged units and reveal your self

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The reason for this simple pick is:

I aksed the Lady of tha civ if I could sleep there.

I wake up, and she is Standing on my adventurer.

Immature, but I am new to df and giggle easily.

I have come across this weird thing in Adventure mode where Goblins will "ambush" me while I'm fast-travelling, yelling about how they're here and I should ready my shit.

But then I find that they're not hostile at all. I can even talk to them and get quests from them. However moving into them will activate an attack automatically as if they're enemy NPCs.

I am extremely legendary at this point I should point out. And I travel alone. Are they just too scared to attack or is this just a bug?

It's a bug with how the game determines who is or is not an enemy. Entities that you don't have any relationship with, such as bandits or entire civilizations in a land far, far away from home, will simply consider you neutral; they have no idea who you are or where you came from, and they dont make decisions about how they should treat you, so they'll just ignore you unless you talk to them. At the same time, the game realizes on some level that the civ/entity should be hostile by default, such as with kobolds, goblins, or bandits, and when you try to move into the square they occupy, YOU auto-attack them, which suddenly changes your relationship with them from neutral to hostile, prompting them to attack you on sight from then on.

Yep. Like you said the Goblins are now hostile to me again. Good to know.

EDIT:

Just a quick question for anyone who might know:

Does armor stacking work in Adventure mode? I'm currently wearing breastplate over mail, but the armor indicator says my current armor is just the chainmail. The game seems to prefer chainmail because I'm guessing that chainmail covers the upper arms whereas the breast plate does not. So is the breastplate redundant in this case? If so I should drop it so I can carry more food or whatever.

Yes, armor stacking works. No worries. My guess is that the armor that covers the most is shown as armor.

However, make sure you wear a few dresses over that armor, to be as padded as possible. ;D

Made adventurer, attacked bandit, he disarmed my saguaro rib sword.  I pulled out a sack of almost 200 gold coins and promptly beat him to death with them.
