So I just started my first Real Adventure, with a dwarf. Suddenly, Humans come out of nowhere and attack me. Luckily, I'm a Speardwarf with Armor and Shield Proficiencies. So I think I just killed 5 people. And a Child.
"No officer, they came at me! The child was wielding a carving knife!"

My adventurous fellow is stuck in a cave, because of the blocked pathway of ashes of an campfire which blocks the way, thanks to a known bug. He has 4 water and 1 human meat  (taken from the enemy, apparently dwarves have no problem with eating humans) left and no choice but to give in to starvation.

Either this bug has to be fixed or we need a cool suicide option for the dwarves that would also make possible to play emo dwarf, targeting your own upper legs and lower arms with a silver dagger.

I get the image that she kicked him in the face after wall-running up his body, using her grip on the weapons as an axle of sorts. XD

I just found out the hard way that bogiemen can't acquire spells from books. They can read them and learn it's knowledge but can't used said knowledge...

edit: oh and currently the town I was using to store bogeymen just got ambushed by wild animals. Most of the dwarves that live there were murdered.

This is long, but involves the murder of entire families, so if you're into that kind of thing, read on...

One of my human civs was on an island. After initially deciding to ignore them completely, I finally decided to spawn as a citizen and wreak as much havoc as possible from the minute I was "born." First I went to the civ's only fortress, where I found nine or ten peasants in addition to the lord and lady consort. A quick interrogation to find out their family histories led me to discover that the peasants were all distant members of the lord's family. (I suppose this is probably normal.)

I retired and went to Legends Mode to examine more closely the fortress family tree. Here I learned the horrible truth - the lord, Rere, was the youngest grandson of the previous lord. He was forcing his aunts, uncles, and cousins - the rightful heirs - to live as peasants while he ruled the fortress. This would not stand.

Upon returning to adventure mode, I decided to kill the "wrong heirs" and let the right ones live, even if it meant my death. First I killed the lady consort and set about crippling Lord Rere ever so slowly. I sliced off both his feet and left him a bleeding, vomiting mess, but by now his uncles were coming after me, and I was pretending to do this for them. In order to escape, I cut off at least one arm of just about everyone...and in an unfortunate counterstrike, I stabbed poor Uncle Otur in the brain. Fortunately he was the childless one. Aunt Pibang and Uncle Palath were relatively safe. Their daughter, young Milo, whom I had decided was the true heir, was untouched.

Dodging people I didn't want to kill took its toll, however. I killed Uncle Ebe to save myself, but after hopping back into an earlier room I was somehow sliced in the skull by Lord Rere himself, and his chromite slicing knife meant the end of me.

However, by killing me, Lord Rere made himself an enemy of my hometown. When next I spawned in that city I brought with me Kisnast and Corud, a hammer(wo)man and spearman, and went after the fortress again. Lord Rere attacked me unprovoked. This act was looked upon as a betrayal by his aunt Pibang, mother of the rightful heir. She herself killed her nephew.

Chaos ensued. My hammerwoman, Kisnast, killed Pibang in retaliation, and in the scuffle somehow decided she was my enemy, as well. My spearman continued to be my companion, and he attacked the hammerwoman. Uncle Palath, Pibang's widower, somehow managed to die in the struggle. I chopped off Kisnast's hammer arm, and Corud brought home his spear.

I went downstairs, where I saw the child Milo, the only survivor. Somehow, by saving the murders for my companions, I had managed to remain acceptable in her eyes. I spoke to her and was able to report the good news - her traitorous uncle Rere was dead. She congratulated me, and sounded happy...perhaps she didn't realize that her parents were also dead. Along with two uncles. And her cousin-in-law. I retired, presumably to act as her regent.

All was well in Fortress Packclocks. I went back to Legends Mode to admire my handiwork - most of a noble family, all brought down in the year 551. Then I looked at my former companions' pages...where I learned that Kisnast, the hammerwoman, had been the last surviving daughter of Corud, the spearman who had killed her. Magnificent.

I'm not quite the best adventurer, but damn if I don't try. I've posted all my interesting stuff, but a quick rehash of my recent triumphs:

Stranglemurdered a bunch of goblins living in a keep, died by dwarves in a different building (Am I accidentally breaking into treasure rooms?)

Murderstrangled a Giant Lion that was causing trouble. I almost died, but MORTAL WOUND ain't got shit on me. Fast-travel healing FTW.

Slaughterchoked a few more goblins, various deaths including exhausting myself fighting a moon horror with a meat cleaver

Most recently, bashed gobbo heads in in the catacombs of the Monastery of Beards, a HUMAN group with catacombs filled with human and dwarf corpses. I added three goblin and one human corpse to the list.

My adventurer lost a leg to a trap. The same trap that ripped off one of my previous adventurer's buttocks. (That poor bastard was then killed by a pack of alligators while trying to walk up to a stream to cross it. He didn't stand a chance, but recovering the body was easy enough.) However, after spending two weeks training her ambushing and crutch walking abilities simultaneously, she can achieve an amazing 60% of the speed she was capable of previously...

So logically she grabs 5 different shields and some cheap armor and goes looking for shit to kill, and succeeds in taking out quite a few bandits and earning the title "the Natural Flimsiness of Sparkles." God damnit. Wipe out 23 bandits on your own without taking a scratch and you're called flimsy.

I'm currently delving into the underworld in an attempt to:

1) See what all kind of interesting stuff I can find
2) See how long I can survive
3) Eventually exit the cavern system, return to the surface, and retire as a legend

I've tweaked the mapgen settings so the underground is now fairly cavernous, instead of having lots of tiny little passages.  I use this extra space to my advantage, by lighting a string of campfires behind me wherever I go, so I'll have some method of retracing my steps.

I'm currently trying to create an ogre vampire necromancer. It's not going well. Got really, really hungry and thirsty, managed to recover from that, yet for some reason my speed's dropped to 99 and is staying that way. Now my companions are kind of dancing around me.

I remember someone saying that when you eat food the game considers it to still be in your inventory so eventually you end up weighed down. If you had to eat all that food it's possible that the game thinks your still carrying it all.

Ah, so there's actually a known bug in regards to that?  Alright then.

I had an issue with that a while back, was munching down on a stack of stuff and realized my speed wasn't going up.  "Fixed" it by dropping the lessened stack and then picking it up again.

I decided to make brawler, "Mike Tyson Heatedroars", a female tone-deaf illiterate moron with superior physical attributes and proficient fighter, kicker, striker, dodger, wrestler, whatever. My very first thing to do was to drop my weapon and all other useless stuff because those are for pussies. Then I entered the nearby house and managed to strike down all of them, only took a slight injury in my other arm, but other than that it went really well.

Then I entered the next house, in which I was welcomed by a full-on attack, so I decided to retreat. I could have run on circles and taken them down one by one with excellent agility, but I decided to run away. After losing them I thought that what the heck, I'll see what happens if I take on a horse. That proved to be a really bad idea when Mike got repeatedly kicked down and against obstacles.

Next I'll make a true one trick pony and give my guy (or gal) a superior attributes in one and only one skill (aside making him a novice swimmer) and see what happens. Or perhaps I'll just skip the swimming as well and make him a grandmaster kicker with a cool korean name.

Either way, I am determined to unleash a character that is personification of hell.

Any reason you're not going straight to adequate swimmer, or did you just want to cut the training time down?
