My Mace(wo)man, Pessal Trussedmeditations the Cremations of Assembly, who had killed a dragon, four vampires, seven goblin warlords, ten humans, three giant fiend spiders, and thirty plain goblins was exploring some catacombs with the swordsman, Tukstis Honorequal, was suddenly attacked by three goblin bowmen, the first was six or seven tiles away, the second was fifteen or so, and the third one was a level up with the stairs across the room. The first arrow struck me in me shield hand severing it and pinning it to a nearby wall, I charged forward and bashed the first in the head with my silver morningstar, killing it instantly. I took two more steps toward the second before taking an arrow to my left knee, shattering the knee cap. I collapsed, my speed cut by two thirds. I crawled over to the offender dodging several arrows on the way and smacked him in the leg knocking him over before I beat his skull in. The third fired an arrow from above striking me in the lower body and only bruising my pancreas and guts through my meteoric guardianplate. When I realized I was pale and bleeding, my ally who had been trailing somewhat far behind ran towards the stairs while I crawled towards the exit at a sluggish pace. My fellow swordsman blocked and dodged several arrows before heading up the staircase out of my sight. A final arrow struck the ground beside me as I left the room. I continued to crawl my way back to the keep of the town I had been in getting lost several times before reaching the keep. Seeing as the leg wound had been too serious and I would never walk again, as well as the fact I was missing my shield hand (and shield) I retired my adventurer. Later I checked legends and it seemed as though my companion was shot and killed by an arrow to the skull, the only practical way seeing as goblin archers don't often beat a swordsman at close range, unless of course they get a lucky shot to the face. I must hunt down Zolak Slimeevils the goblin, and the murderer of my savior, Tukstis Honorequal.

Heh... as it turns out I probably could drink water, since I don't seem to evaporate stuff on lower Z levels.  Food would be impossible though.

Incidentally, I'm going for the "Sneaking strangler" character path.  Being able to grab someone by the neck, throw them to the floor and then strangle or burn them to death while repeatedly taking them down if necessary seems pretty effective.  There was also an odd bug where a Bride of the Night didn't notice me but still went prone in order to sneak under me.  Being prone and in a stranglehold under a 60,000 degree human is not a good place to be.

I take it this is modded?

Barely.  Just with a new super hot human race added (I tried a super cold one too but those really aren't helpful as far as I can tell, since you can't get across rivers).

My old one got crippled by a blowdart, so I retired them and started a new one with higher dodging.  As far as I can tell I can easily grind up the ambushing and wrestling I need but dodging is a real pain.  With this one I've been hurling around random critters to grind up wrestling.  Incidentally, I also randomly stumbled across a titan on the way to a lair.  It injected me with venom but it doesn't seem to have done anything yet, hm.  Oh well, I managed to melt its head, that's a start.

Also body parts don't seem to burn.  I was using a Buzzard Beak as a weapon for a while there.

EDIT: Does anyone else find wrestling training weird?  I'm getting 110XP every time I pinch the teeth of or throw to the ground this Kangaroo Doe.  Is the idea that you get more XP for performing moves on a bigger foe?  In which case I think I've found my route to quick Legendary +5 Wrestling.

The way to equip weapons is more complicated than it needs to be.

I understand that roguelikes are usually ruthlessly complex, and I enjoy that, but adventure mode's way of equipping stuff just doesn't seem to make sense.

Did a lone sentient outcast start with the wanderer mod. Spawned basically on top of a hydra, eventually killed it, creating a lake of blood in the process. Now spending a very long time making dozens of barrels to hold all the meat.

Alright, that was justified enough that we wont disembowel you. Just this once. :P

My adventurer is havign some FUN. I've completed many quests with little injury except to my groin, and my lasher companion having a broken lower spine (poor girl will never walk again!)
So I walked into a house in a town near the one I started in and asked an axewoman to join me. She declined, informing me of my inferiority. I found this astonishing, and accused her of being a night creature without forethought. Turns out she IS a vampire, and chopped off my arm and a couple other unmentionable body parts. I nearly bled to death. All three of my companions and a vast horde of local civilians were killed, but I'm still running around throwing botls at the bitch. I will never again bother an axe lord about the state of their undead-ness, and will become a werebeast as soon as possible to regrow my missing limb...

After killing one more farmer, she fled into the fields and I lost her. Damnit!

So I travelled back to town, and there she was in that same hut surrounded by the same peasants. I'm gonna need more things to throw...

Miraculously, a few of my shots, mostly the last few consisting of weapons and armor I nabbed from a bandit camp, hit her and caused some damage. I closed to melee range and began taking swings at her, removing around 5 different body parts before she backed off a fair distance, screamed her last remark about killing a bunch of random people which I honestly didn't read, and promptly bled to death. All of the peasants died.

Never again.

Got 340 notables and 150 non-notable kills as a dwarf vampire who was near immune to everything - though a town he ambushed woke up and attacked him. Dodge dodge dodge THE SILVER BONING KNIFE STRIKES YOU IN THE LEFT ARM. MANY NERVES HAVE BEEN SEVERED.

Fuuuuu---

Kill about thirty humans, then a brewer comes and takes out both of my legs, then my remaining arm.

THE SILVER BONING KNIFE STRIKES YOU IN THE LEFT LEG. MANY NERVES HAVE BEEN SEVERED.
As above.

You push the human brewer in the lower body, bruising the fat!

So, poor old Datan dodged five or six strikes, to only be able to shove the opponent which did no more than bruise until he finally bled out after repeated weak hits.

I took my adventurer to the doctor's officelocal werelizard lair and let her bite me in the arm, in the hopes that my one-armedness would be cured through were-lizardism. Unfortunately, it's gnawing on my other arm caused loss of function in that arm as well. After waiting a full in game month for the next full moon, nothing whatsoever happened, and my adventurer was still armless. I retired her for the moment, being that she has no experience with unarmed combat and apparently didn't contract the werebeast syndrome. For all I know the next werebeast could chew her face off.

Well, once I made a human savage outsider. I went to the beach to sleep, and then woke up to find a beached longfin mako shark. I kicked it a couple of times, and then it bled to death. I then butchered the head (that I had accidentally kicked off), and ate the prepared brain. I then butchered the sharks mutilated corpse and found some longfin mako shark sweetbread. I ate that too. After that I ate some tripe. And slowly, but surely, I ate the whole thing. Soon after, I encountered a grizzly bear, killed it, butchered it, and brought along a bone as a treat and souvenir.
