My human demigod had the misfortunate of spawning in an evil dust cloud and became a soot thrall. Went around beating the crap out of ducks and rabbits until I came across a hydra lair, thinking I was pretty awesome I went in.
The hydra promptly tore my right upper leg off, then my left upper arm. I fled, and lost my other leg and arm. It also ripped my guts out, forced my ribcage through my liver and reduced my spine to dust. I bit the hydra, got lucky and damaged its lungs. Instead of running, the hydra decided to spend its last minutes kicking me in the face apparently breaking my brain and knocking out all my teeth.
My 'demigod' is now a limbless, organless, toothless and brain damaged lump of flesh.
Are husk/thrall adventurers all durable like this or was I lucky? I noticed I somehow dodged a few attacks.

My Dwarf - Urist Sillikot Oshotnanir - was deformed by evil mist to an evil mist thrall. That caused almost (with one exception, but I digress) all Townspeople to hate me. Soldiers, Rangers, Farmers, even children or HUGE HERDS OF CATS attacked me like crazy. Urist made use of this turn of fate and went on a killing spree which is not yet finished: Up to now I have 665 notable kills, all lords, ladies and the law-giver. Strangely enough, cats, dogs and roosters are also labeled notable (is that normal?) - while in contrast giant jumping spiders, alligators or ogres are just "other" kills - 101 other kills btw.

The Law-Giver (Lapip Modestdrooped) was a vampire. That explained why he had no interest in killing Urist. But since Urist was on a killing spree amoung his citizens (i.e. messing with his dinner) he didn't want to talk (in stark kontrast to mummies in various tombs who are quite polite to our dwarf evil mist thrall....).

Well, Urist killed him to destroy every single dynasty in Xemtar (aka the mythical Land). Funny thing: He didn't complained after chopping of an arm and a leg and had tons of bone bracelets etc.

Well, right now Urist asks himself what to do next. since no-one wants to give him a quest its rather difficult to find caves etc. He could kill all mummies to become surpreme king of undead... well, lets see...

"Can Kutsmob Pimplehate save the world?" was a legendary bone-bound book. The written portion consists of a 30 page essay entitled "Can Kutsmob Pimplehate save the world? authored by Kutsmob Pimplehate. It concerns the giving up on being a fishery worker of the goblin necromancer Kutsmob Pimplehate in Bristleseductions in 29. The writing has its moments of cleverness.

Thele Oneromimi, Professional swordself, sets out from her home town in pursuit of the lost riches of the Dwarven mine of Kindirons, in hopes of retrieving its masterwork adamantine two-hander.

Debating pro and cons of vampire vs werebeast, though neither seems appealing.
Werebeast if you need to regrow something, vampire otherwise?

A walked in a room and a hunter civilian shot me in the guts. I shot a arrow back at him, and got nice vengeance.

Awesome RNG.

Bloodsucking feels like such a burden though.

Ah... I forgot it was possible to be a vampire and not a necromancer.  Become a necromancer too ideally.

Ambushed by a lion while walking to a wolf's lair, and then mauled to death with almost no injuries to the lion. Then on the next life, got a quest to kill the same lion.

Necromancers don't have to eat or drink or sleep.

Anyway, I modded in a playable race which are essentially human except with a fixed temp of 60,000 (and fire resistance, no heatdam and no eating/ drinking to deal with some associated problems).  These guys are pretty cool - anything you touch evaporates a few turns later, so for instance picking up a rock results in being engulfed in (harmless) boiling magma.  Of course the issue is that you can never have any items ever (for more than a few turns anyway), and so I usually end up being shot to death by something in spite of my awesome wrestling/burning skills (which actually seem weirdly balanced... I can melt weapons away easily, but grabbing and melting people only seems to cause slow bleeding deaths, and I can't actually seem to ignite people unless I'm on the same square as them.  Or unless they cross the trail of fire I leave everywhere I go).

I just imagined your Flamey Human Things attempting to eat but the radiant heat they give off causing the drink to evaporate as it comes towards them and the food to burst into flame and become inedible, ala the Simpsons episode where Homer eats the incredibly hot chilli and goes on a trip - in his efforts to stymie the heat he grabs an icecream to drop on his outstretched tongue, but it melts away and evaporates before it gets to his tongue.

Aforementioned clip, from about 1:00 to 1:18.

Heh... as it turns out I probably could drink water, since I don't seem to evaporate stuff on lower Z levels.  Food would be impossible though.

Incidentally, I'm going for the "Sneaking strangler" character path.  Being able to grab someone by the neck, throw them to the floor and then strangle or burn them to death while repeatedly taking them down if necessary seems pretty effective.  There was also an odd bug where a Bride of the Night didn't notice me but still went prone in order to sneak under me.  Being prone and in a stranglehold under a 60,000 degree human is not a good place to be.

I'm trying to find a quest. Or, barring that, a sewer entrance.

Playing as an ogress, apparently the elven butchers don't have anything they need done.
