Man cave adaptation is a pain in Adventure mode, it's like all the downside of being a vampire but with out the cool immortality to make up for it... also blood drinking.

So far my newest human adventurer is doing well! I only got two men killed an another walking around with an arrow in his lung, but in exchange two goblin gangs, a human gang, and one lone human bandit (the one responsible for my companion's arrowlung disease,) have all been killed. I even killed two goblin weapon masters in the first seven days! How you ask?

They should've known not to split their parties. A lone goblin, even weapon master, not paying attention to his surroundings at sundown is easy pickings without his friends to save him.

So yeah, got her a crossbow with a quiver stuffed full of bolts for backup, a mace, a pick, and a battle axe, all cranked out from the steel factory in Boredpaddles, along with her shiny set of masterwork steel--she'll have to earn the artifact stuff the hard way--and set out southwest for a lair I could see right off...

*peeks inside*

*far too many heads look back, and after losing a couple teeth to the barrage of attacks I climbed a tree to escape the hydra*

So I circle around, had to jump the river this time since it melted at sunrise, that will be important later...

I creep back over to the lair, crossbow ready... and nothing happens... I say screw it, and decide to get all industrious with advfort, cut down a tree, and start building fortifications around the entrance, expecting at any moment to be bumrushed by a grumpy hydra... nothing.

I complete the walls of the box and make a ramp to floor it over... still nothing, finally I complete it and start tossing logs and stuff into the entrance... nothing... hmmm, I open a hole in the roof and peek inside, figure it might be asleep and I can put a fire or something to keep it at bay til I can patch the shooting gallery back up... and there is nothing inside.

Confused as hell I start checking the area where I last saw it, near the tree I climbed, and notice corpses of random animals... all on one side of the river, and then I find a bitchy hydra stomping around throwing a hissy fit, I plink it, run, and hop across the river... it stops and stands there, then heads the other way.

...so, glad I brought every bolt I could carry (I think it was three full stacks of 30 in the quiver) my pincusion finally sighs and bleeds out, leaving me at 54/1300 into adept marksdwarf, from from 0/600 novice...

That's a pretty awesome encounter. Really nice set up.

Yeah, I swung at it as I was backing out of the cave, which resulted in me missing and a few teeth bouncing off the ground around me, so I bolted.

There is a huge downside though, when I go to tell others about stuff I've done, I have to scroll through three pages of the hydra throwing a hissy fit and beating up random animals, or three pages of one of my re-animated goblin corpses beating everything to death (it got a full title before I did!), making it hard to tell others about the dragon (beheaded  with a pickaxe while blocking dragonflame with my shield like a bawss as I rounded a corner... which was kinda anti-climactic, damn dragons are too delicate) or giants or the other hydra I killed later.

Oh yeah! The first dorf who I'm setting up the artifact collection quest with, he apparently had the best title I've ever gotten, Sarvesh "McHammer" Momentmachines, the Poetic Adoration of Steel.

On the subject of the big quest through monsterworld, I screwed up with Nish Babycudgels--the dorf I was going to have follow in McHammer's footsteps--and read the necro tome, forgetting it would make the undead beasties ignore me, so I decided to cut out the temptation there entirely and had her set up a site down by the treehumpers to drop her armor off, and after giving up on getting beards to show up on an elf I settled for naming him Eslome Thelirecilole. Bearded Treeburns, now off to see the world, find some artifacts, kill some beasts, and see if I can pick up a kickass title to finish out the name.

My vampire adventurer (Atek Watchtunnel the Unseen Beguiler) is currently trekking across the continent.
All I can say is that I came across a temple covered in almost nothing but engravings of saguaro fruit. Saguaro fruit dominates the market in the desert area of this country. I see warehouses full of saguaro fruit. Saguaro fruit is now stapled into my mind.
Also I threw one at a giant leopard and managed to stick its skull through its brain. I can see why the people keep them on hand.
People don't seem to mind when a random guy walks into the mead hall, takes all the bolts and arrows he can find, then fires them at the floor and walks out with incredible bow skills.

A guy walks into a bar and unloads all the ammo in the place at the floor... they're waiting for a punchline perhaps?

How about:
One of the peasants asked, "What are you doing?"
The adventurer replied: "I'm on an important misson."

Jokes in the Dwarf Fortress universe are very... simple.

Also I came across a mead hall made out of solid native platinum blocks.

continuing the adventure with the elf in adamantine, reached some towns, mostly travelling with two companions, an elf bowman and a human pikeman. killed a chieftain in a dungeon and have registered several sites. explored a tomb but didnt found anything interesting. have killed some bandits in camps too.

have tried to use the advantage of the adamantine sword in order to geld some enemies but the most i get is to spill their guts and nothing more.

A vampire adventurer got webbed by a GCS. Seeing as vampires don't need to breathe, the venom only meant I lost all use of my weapons.
After about 5 IRL minutes of watching the helpless guy's helmet foil the GCS's bites and finally waking for a single attack on the spider. He scratched it in the abdomen and managed to cut an artery. The GCS died of blood loss soon after.
My endurance, Armour User, toughness, and the like are all now super-buffed. This guy's on a roll lately and he looks to be doing something epic soon.

Hunh.  Vamps can gain skills, but not stats.

Vampires get a 1-time boost of 2x on all their stats, and then they are frozen forevermore.  Which means that training before becoming a vamp is optimal, as you can easily exceed your natural attribute cap as a vampire.

I may have modded the game to make spitting an act cleaning oneself and others.
What I recently learn is birds beaks are classed under the same grouping as Teeth... and easily detachable with one heavy punch.
So now I'm going around sneaking up on animals to punch their teeth out for reanimation.
Oh the best bit is the bird was listed as in a "brawl"
Really need to sit down and make a tooth fairy mod maybe have it so that teeth are highly inflammatory and burst into flames once knock out for an T.Fairy's curse.

? His Endurance was High, now it's Superhuman. Same for Toughness.
I think it's only mental stats that are frozen.

No, it's just that stat-freezing has been buggy for a good while now. They are supposed to be unable to gain or lose physical attributes, with their mental attributes being unaffected.

Their one-time boost is to their strength, agility, and toughness.

Plus endurance doesn't matter for vamps does it?
