A little background, first: in the draw your adventures thread, I mentioned that I'm playing as a kobold and that I came across migrating elves. Long story short, I killed about ten or twenty (looking over the game log, it seems like none of them were armed; not a single arrow was shot at me and the only ones that attacked me back used fists) before a grimeling distracted me long enough for them to get away. Well, since then I've found a modded crossbow (don't remember who posted the raws, but it adds a bayonet to it) and have been using it to train up my archery, crossbow, and spear skills at the same time. I also got almost killed by an ettin. Three were living in a cave and I killed the first two while sustaining major injuries. The third one caught me off-guard and broke both of my legs, but a random bolt caught her in the heart and she bled out while snapping my arms. [T]ravel to the neaest city and...

Turns out I just found the village those elves were headed to. "Catarm." What tipped me off was the elven herbalist who was missing his left leg from the knee down. Apparently none of them remember me; damn racists, probably think every kobold looks the same. So now I'm casing the village and figuring out a plan of attack. It's just me, my bronze shield, my bismuth bronze crossbow, and about 100 bolts vs. a village of tree-hugging wimps. Most of them are kids, though, so I gotta be careful. I'll edit this with the result when it's over. One way or the other.

Edit: Eh? Did I mod something without knowing about it that made elves completely unable to fight back? Maybe I just came across a village of elves wussier than the norm; there were only like two bowmen, one swordsman, and one spearman in the whole village. The rest were craftsmen or herbalists... and the kids of course. Anyway, here's eight screenshots; 1 is pre-battle, 8 is post-battle, the six inbetween are just random events during it.

I figure that dwarves can be killed by dragon, so i'll just get some well-equipped swordsdwarves to tag along. Then I can finally get a better weapon.

I heartily recommend the crossbow-bayonet combo. It makes dragons a lot easier if you have a high ambush/spear skill.

No, i'm sword/shielding them.  Besides, I don't want to gen a new world, I LIKE this one.

Question:does dual-wielding shields increase your block percentage?

Yes, becouse now you can throw the head at someone, then smash them with the body, also I have an idea of how to sigg it

Self, I am disappoint. I tried to reach the HFS and apparently I turned off the cavern layers in the world gen settings... now I remember I did that so I wouldn't have to worry about FPS drain when making a fortress, but doing that means I can't have Porin adventure down to play with the clowns. I guess he'll have to settle for retiring among his kind and wowing the youngsters with his tales. Eh, there are worse fates. Like meeting the clowns.
