Since my previous adventurer died to a vampire braining him (was trying to talk him down, but I think the vampire was mute, I dunno), I rerolled a new guy in another dwarven civ.

You know those random people in your home town/village/fort/retreat that hate you for no particular reason? Well, I wanted to exchange my bismuth bronze battleaxe for a steel one that a woodcutter had, and said woodcutter hated me for no particular reason. Thinking it was maybe that the relationships needed to be updated, I saved and reloaded, guy still hated me, though stopped spitting.

However, when I tried to trade, he kept saying to move closer even though i was right next to him. So, i decided that NPC was being a jerk, spat at him and left. I'll just get my steel axe from someone else.
Really? I'd have relieved him of both head and axe.

As far as my adventures, I keep dying to lashers. Everytime.

Try that multiattack trick, while it works vs undead, in fact it seems to work against everything from my tests, and lashers being extremely dangerous due to how powerful a whip is, this tactic should deal with them without problem (just replace the bash with your best weapon type of attack of course)

aim -> body part you want -> enable multiattack -> bash
aim -> dodge -> away from enemy
press .  to launch the attack+dodge
wait until enemy move next to you and repeat.

In the tomb i found lots of iron armor parts with *item* , meaning they are masterful quality
*Item* means superior quality. ☼Item☼ is masterful.
Thanks for the precision

Damn i overlooked that entry in the wiki and thought the ☼ was just made as a * in my tileset, so there was nothing masterful in that tomb unfortunately.

Wasn't worth pissing off my hometown/homefort.

I... I don't get it.
I've explored several tombs, the pyramid-ones.
I've danced on the coffins, I've even spat on them.
Nothing. Some loot, some traps, no undead at all.

Not every tomb has a mummy.
Not every tomb is cursed.

The mummies seem to be broken in the 40.xx versions in that they don't do curses anymore. They can also no longer speak, which might be why.

Yes, all the mummy could do in the tomb i discovered one was to gesture to raise undead, not a single curse and no dialogue came from it.

Testing some interactions in a new world, I reanimated some corpses, and they didn't attack anyone because I removed the opposed_to_life tag. Which is great, because they used to be hostile regardless of whether or not they possessed that tag.

Use ',' inshead of '.'. , is one tick, . is 5 ticks. Even one tick can do much difference during fight. About humans acting strange about some of you kills, you do not know whole history from legens mode. Some of it you must discover alone, by rumors or by doing it. This is why some actions of some dwarfs are showed after you build fortress with engraved things or artifacts.

You can set the advanced worldgen to have all of history revealed to you or not.

Anyway, I thought '.' was one step, I've tried using ',' and it didn't seem to do a whole lot, not sure.

I never noticed there was a difference in waiting, as i had always used . before.
Thanks for pointing it, i will have to experiment to see if there's a noticable difference with the multiattack

I have discovered just how empty the middle of my world is.  Ive been traveling for over a week without so much as a hamlet or forest retreat to keep me company.  Occasionally travelers pass by, either looking for excitement trouble or going somewhere to steal something, and if its a goblin or a merlock I attack them.  Ive picked up 4 companions and lost 1 on the way, but its just miles and miles of empty, wild, mostly savage land.

Beside fight there is a difference between "," and "." (one is 1 and another is 10 ticks, not five though) but I haven't observed that during fights with multi-attack - I used two attack and attack+dodge and the time in my case was always 6-8 ticks for the whole action.

Did some bogey looking.  It turns out that you can jump 2 tiles as fast as you can move 1.  It also turns out that even at 0.919 speed you aren't faster than they, by a long shot.  I'm not sure if they can swim in this version, but they dont seem to be able to climb.  Although they sure as hell hit harder, are faster, and can spawn in trees.
