Cavies are mean little things. The other day I annoyed some villagers somehow. So this being DF some cavies I met while leaving town wanted a piece of me. I stood there for a minute laughing as their teeth bounced off my plate armor (and watching my skills rise) I stopped laughing when one of them bit me and latched on firmly keeping me from moving as a big Yak Bull walked up and kicked several parts of me into jelly.

Excited to battle my first hydra. I went into battle just hacking away with my bronze axe. It was a long battle (How much blood do they have  ), which ended with my adventurer running into to the distance with both of his arms bit off. Now Urist Hairybeard will become a legendary biter and kicker.

I found a 6x7 hole in the earth and using reveal I've discovered it stretches straight through hell. I am going to jump in it and see if I land in another dimension.

Currently losing adventurers like legos.

The last one, a human who succeeded in killing a cyclops and an ettin with the aid of her two companions, drowned in a river alongside them, because there was no way out of the river (waterfall and cliffs on all sides.) Fuck.

My current adventure involves several realtime days of making a fort, filling it with goodies, and causing it to fall. Then making an adventurer and going back to attempt to recover the goodies hidden there. Might make an entrance to HFS and all the caverns, make for more Fun. Might also make it into a story, not sure yet.

Sometimes, not grinding thrower works to your advantage: in my latest adventure, while sneaking into a bandit camp and throwing bolts from hiding, I missed my target only to hit the bandit boss in the knee (har har) chipping the bone and sending him to the ground.

I'm having an aweful time with adventure mode right now.

I was trying out pangolin men as adventurers (becasue pangolins are awesome, pangolin men/women can only be MORE awesome)

1. Died... Somehow. I don't even remember now.
2. Died after a kobold bowman shot her up. Retreated all the way back into the keep, only to realize she was suffocating so all was lost.
3. Died to goblin bandits in a dungeon. Didn't get a hit in.
4. Died in dragon fire. Hit it like four times.

At that point I said fuck it; the best I could do is pick a species that doesn't ordain to die in a fire. So I took a dragonman.

Now? I'm stuck in the dungeon of this town because I wasn't smart enough to check my alignment before coming out of fast travel right in front the castle keep's gate. In the middle of a market. My only option at that point was to spam my firebreath until I was through the gates, then sneak into the keep. Unfortunately a spearman was on the other side of the door, and had a high enough shield skill to block everything. Being a peasant, I didn't stand a chance. So, I ran into the nearby tower and snuck intot he keep behind him. Dumping skill points into ambushing was a good idea.

Anyway this dungeon is unbelievably boring. No loot, no criminals, nothing. My FPS is low because of all the peasants, so I'm dying to just get out of here. That spearman is going to be trouble, though.

Human swordsman, nicely kitted out in steel and plate and awesome gear.
Ran into a camp of wizards numbering about 20 overall.
Killed one by stealth, necro resurrected him and they started killing each other while I snuck away.
After two more similar raids, one of their dwarven soldier buddies ran up to me, cut my left hand off then ran away...
I miss my hand

UPDATE: Also, I just died from suffocation for no reason...guess it's savescumm time for me...maybe. I DO want to get the legends out of the world to track down those tablets...
