Seeking to redeem my past vampire-related failings, I recently took up a quest to find and slay a vampire hiding in a seaside hamlet.

Well, I found the vampire... but since he was complaining about being bored as a ranger, I thought I'd see what happens if I try to recruit him. Success! I now have at least one vampire companion (they could all be vampires for all I know).

Okay, he'll never get tired or hungry, but the others don't do that either. He'd be the perfect person to put on watch while sleeping in the wilderness, but I don't know if I trust him not to get thirsty. What should I do with this guy? Stake him or keep him around?
okay you got a super powe... nah you just got a quest kill on the go. staking him depends on where you do it. if you out him in a tunnel your screwed, if you out him in the middle of nowhere, you screwed, if you out him in a marketplace you have a chance to kill him. but vampires don't drain blood of folks in adventure mode and more likely are common adventurers or peasants who either got cursed or kill another vampire and got thirsty one day.

in other words best out him when he lost the ability to use his legs and arms... then chuck rocks at him.

One of my adventurers is a woman who introduces herself as Quistra Petaljest the Hoary Chance of Anguish. She is quite proud of her silver warhammer, and wears mostly iron armor at the moment. She's starting to get a good repuation and has 5 companions at the moment.

Well...since I'm playing Slaves to Armok God of Blood: Chapter 2 Dwarf Fortress: Coin Management Hell: How The Heck Did A Bunch Of Copper Pieces Get Into My Quiver: The Revenge. currently I'm standing in a marketplace pouring coins out of various containers onto the ground and picking them back up again while my companions mill around and, I imagine, passersby give me weird looks.

Once she got all her coins in once place she did some trading, leaving a copper bow and some arrows with the merchants and taking some greaves and a silver whip to try.

Now she's off to kill a giant dingo or something that's been annoying the populace.

I modded in magic in a test world.
So, my crossbowman derp around killing things with necromancy, fireballs, and lightning (Which is the most funniest spell I modded in. Everything hit by it just explodes).

My finger slipped and I accidentally thunder'd myself.

I exploded into gibs.

That sounds... Interesting.

If you don't mind, could you post the mod or something?

So Ive discovered that the Dungeons and catacombs under a castle are BY FAR the deadliest place to be.

I would rather fight 2 dragons at once that go into the catacombs to hunt a bandit out.

I rolled an Elven adventurer who became a legendary Sword-Elf, After Killing many a foe he was tasked with killing a dragon in the year 500.
He skilfully blocked the dragonfire and stabbed the bastard, the Dragon then bit off his sword hand so he picked the sword up with his free one and slashed the dragon in the throat severing the artery.

Afterwards He made a dragonbone amulet and Dragonbone Ring to remember that day.

His next quest was to go into the dungeons to kill an amphibian woman at which point he chose early retirement.

I was looking through the Legends to find some history on my notable kills.

I found that my very first kill, Us Creamsglows, the human, had once been married to Isman Wondrousbreeds, the lord of my the capital I was questing around! In fact, he was the person I was told to seek out when my fame increased.

It turns out that Us was, essentially, the high priestess of the local religion. She profaned the temple and ended up as a were-anteater for her blasphemy.

I checked out the temple and yep - it's empty, desolate, and half-ruined.

I just watched a vampire get ripped to bits by over fifty dogs, ducks, cats and geese. It was rather terrifying, all things considered. A goose made him dodge off the top of the temple (he was the high priest) and when both his legs were broken, the horde of domesticated animals swooped in for the kill. I think I got maybe one arrow into him before he disappeared beneath blood-spattered feathers and fur.

Foolishly trekked a third of the way across the map in search of a Mountain home with which to equip my Hero, Not realizing I had to mod the raws before world gen >.<

Assuming each tile is a 5ft square, (Does anybody know the proper scale of a DF map?) It was a 43 Mile walk away from the nearest town.

Most of our walk, my 5 human companions joked and shouted loudly as they saw any wild life. Making it extremely difficult to hunt for food.
The first river we find that is not frozen solid, one of the fellows decides to inform me he can't swim, after sprinting off from the group and
diving head first in after a Carp. The fool, unable to do more than watch in awe expecting the battle to be over in seconds. It
occurred to me that the beast was having difficulty with the concept of a Helmut. The human lay unconscious and drowning in the water,
the fish struck like lightning 35 times in the head to no avail. So I rousted the boys we dove in, and With a single swing of my Axe sent
the head of the beast sailing up out of the water far up the opposite shore.

We retrieved our man, suffering a few bruises and a broken finger. And decided a short rest of an hour would help his recovery.  When we
woke, he was gone.  And after that every time I slept no matter the time of day or duration, one of my followers is not there when I awake!?

Does anyone know what is going on? I am now alone in the woods and night is falling.

You probably went to sleep too far away from your companions. Thus, they could not find you, and decided to go home.

Meanwhile, the RNG has seemed to smile on me yet more.

Whilst traversing the dungeons of a Dwarven Fortress, in which I have so far met no resistance, I found a -gold opal ring-, many battle axes and...

A brand new toy! :3

Bay12, what shall I do with these? I'm thinking killing civilization leaders. Maybe the Dwarf ones just for laughs too. That said, the Dwarf leader is called the first sabre, and I wouldn't want to kill that which is so badass...

It's just cave spider venom, though. Throw them at things.

Dizziness that never ends. I don't feel like wasting them just yet by throwing them.

Stabbing works too.

I had some of those - I fought some serpent men and their blowgunner had a load of poisoned darts that I used, liberally, on his comrades. Not as lethal as serpent man venom though. Shame. Now, if only there was a way to milk serpent men.

Oh yeah, if you try going after serpent men for their poisoned darts, don't let them die in a river - it washes the poison off and it all floats downstream (like blood). I don't know if the nearby town has recovered from the recent and mysterious dizziness epidemic, but I'm not going back to find out in case they blame it all on me.

Anybody else experience the joys of running into a weremammoth yet?
A pleasure I do not eagerly await.

Meanwhile: I returned to my home hamlet and was surprised that the locals not only recognised and remembered me, but that they commented on how much I had changed, and how happy they were to see me alive and well. They even said "welcome home" which was nice.

Now, if only I knew which hovel was supposed to be mine.

Edit: I was so caught up in everyone else's stories that I forgot my own adventure!
