Dwarves use their beards to influence the adamantite to change form. A dwarves beard is specialized in his job, therefore a legendary miner has a much better mining beard then a legendary weaponsmith, who has a beard that influences metals to make armor much more.
This also explains why dwarves can have a city on just a soap pillar, the beard of the soapmaking dwarf causes the soap to become rigid.

Just walked into a house at night to feed my vampire adventurer when a random monitor monster shoots its web at me, my companion and everyone else in the room. It then proceeded to bash everyone in the head with his Dwarf Hair Crown. And I was really starting to like this character....  :'(

I buried a dwarf today. There's only one necromancer tower in my world and it is a long, long walk away - being on the other side of a massive mountainrange that nearly splits the map in two. I rescued military dwarves from an abandoned fortress along with some weapons, booze and armor, and set out for immortality.

"A", named for her draft designation, was the last one left. Her ≡silver warhammer≡ had 22 kills when she lost the ability to grasp - not bad for an NPC. I was going to retire her in a town in recognition of her good deeds but there was a bandit ambush when the party was almost there.

The pikeman who killed her was tortured extensively with joint locks and a wooden sword before I accidentally cracked his skull, thus ending the punishment. I hauled the body for about 1/3 of the length of the world (and had to subdue it and her severed hand several times when crossing evil biomes) before I found a dry cave in a non-evil region. I left her surrounded by campfires with a -rose gold flask- and some wine, plus two gold coins, and soldiered onwards towards the only tower.

After about two days' worth of attempts and many, many adventurers dead, I finally have a well trained nefarious dust husk adventurer wielding a *silver maul*. He really wouldn't need it, but he's just ridiculously deadly.

I think I may actually savescum on this one though, since I saved when I first met the nefarious dust - develop my strength higher, as I'm still only propelling very small foes away, and try to be called something cooler, like a haunting mist lurker.

It is said knowledge is like a foul-smelling herb. It must be cooked well and thoroughly with experience to make it palatable. A young scholar's knowledge is therefore not only worthless but disgusting. -- In Dwarf Fortress you have another paradigm. Gather as much of that smelly herb as you can and toss it at your enemy, fracturing his skull through the +capybara man leather cap+.

I've generated a weird world, reptilemen, amphibianmen, dingomen, goblins, humans, dwarfs, elves, werebeasts, and a skink fiend live in the same civ, same city.  I passed a hamlet that had no structures but bridges, inhabited by tame animals.  Most Quests I get are for human bandits.  The humans in the Civ worship a hydra, not the skink fiend and they have a temple to him.  The houses have very nice furnishings, and the keep in the capitol has a moat, and looks like lord british's castle.  I wonder if my human adventurer is a member of a goblin civ?

Maybe that the dwarves never died and everyone is just shunning them.
"Wait, what are you doing?  I don't want to go in there!  No, I'm still alive, you can't do this to me!  Is Anybody listening?  Hello... Can someone let me out?  Help me!  Is anyone there?  I'm running out of air!"

"Can Kutsmob Pimplehate save the world?" was a legendary bone-bound book. The written portion consists of a 30 page essay entitled "Can Kutsmob Pimplehate save the world? authored by Kutsmob Pimplehate. It concerns the giving up on being a fishery worker of the goblin necromancer Kutsmob Pimplehate in Bristleseductions in 29. The writing has its moments of cleverness.

I threw a copper bolt at a wolf which strikes the wolf in the left rear paw chipping the bone. A ligament has been torn and a tendon has been torn.
The Wolf gives in to pain.
The Wolf Falls over.
You stab the wolf in the right eye with your copper spear, tearing it apart.
The Copper Spear has lodged firmly in the wound.
I twist the copper spear around in the wolfs right eye.
I maintain possession of the Copper Spear.
I bite the wolf in the right eye, Latching on firmly. I did that multiple times.
I then bit the wolf around in the throat latching on firmly. I shook the wolf around twice opening a major artery.
I then stabbed the wolf in the head with my spear killing it.
Good Times!

"Uso Sitiarad Cemir Cor" - I don't know what it means.

My latest Adventurer, and perhaps my favourite so far, has just started out with a quest killing a vampire in a town.

I managed to spot the vampire, after a little leading from the other people around town, who were telling me that they were too afraid to accuse him of being a vampire. I accused asked him nicely if he was, from which he started screaming out his war cry. Immediately, I took a step back and watched as the peasants and other civilians began to beat on him, while I got the odd hit in from my Silver Flail.

Upon his death, I drunk the blood that poured from his wounds, and waited outside of the city walls for the transformation to take place. I woke up a vampire, and I was thirsty for blood, so I went to the closest hamlet in pursuit.

I stumbled into the hamlet, it was during the evening by this time, as I wanted to stay away from the allied civilisations, in the case that they noticed something strange about my appearance. At the time I was sneaking, for I didn't want anybody to wake up, I sneaked inside one of the cottages and started to feed from the sleeping humans, and I noticed that my form was taking place, so I quickly escaped once more, into the early hours of the night.

Camping outside a werebeast lair, waiting for the full moon. Bits of leather and goddamn batmen have been appearing around the place.
