Update your DF, stone axes work in 43.05.

And that's why I use my shitty mod instead, raw fuckery is easier to keep up to date. Then again, 43.05 has been out for 10 months as of today, so there not even being a 43.04 version yet is kinda sad.

also are kvaldir free kill fodder? they say they are attacking me but are just spamming chats... unless thats a bug or something or are they part of my mod pack thing... i dunno i havent played vanilla df for years

Wildlife that can talk can sometimes chatter about attacking people even when they just sit there. Even in vanilla. This seems to be because NPCs will converse about getting into fights, and wild animals will automatically spook (or at least be on alert) if encountered.

Even if it just says "encounter" it counts as a conflict, hence talking wildlife will say they attacked you, because technically they initiated the conflict by aggroing into encounter mode.

heh amusing, Im being stalked in my game, i encountered these 3 criminals that decided to follow me, other than stalking me on the travel map they dont see to do much, at the moment theres only one left and about to be the final one i take down
