Urfra tracked down the single map in WheeledDread, her home town, and offered the old, wizened goblin woman, Em Bosdaaslot, a large sum of coins for it. Em shook her head, and said, "No, young one, no coins is buy dis map... You going someplace, you takes me, also! Is a map of the world, very good yes, been in the village for..." The old goblin went on prattling about ancient family history for a while, until Urfra clouted her gently in the side of the head to get her attention.
"Awrights den, old one. You comes, also. Now give map!" Em dutifully handed her the map, barely able to contain her excitement at the prospect of adventure.
Surprisingly, the map WAS actually quite accurate, Armok only knows how it came to be in a tiny goblin village...
Anyway, Urfra squinted at it. She found the places she was looking for, frowned, and turned the map up the other way.
That didn't help. She pricked her finger with her iron scimitar and made markings on the map, showing where she was, and where she wanted to go, Witchrhyme, the legendary home of Warghui Menacecolours the Domain of Pulleys, the goblin who had inspired her on her life of adventure... She grimaced, as did her old friend Smunstu Stasostodan who was watching over her shoulder.
He groaned, "Wha' da 'ell does you wan's ter goes dat place for?!?" She growled, and thumped him in the chest. "'Cause that's where Warghui is! You knows, da big famous adventurer! We's going to go meets 'em! An' no complains!"
He shut up, seeing that Urfra was in a stubborn mood... He'd lost an arm to adventure, just as their hero, Warghui had. However, he wasn't nearly as enthusiastic about this idea as Urfra... He looked again at the map, and the huge gap between their homeland and Warghui's. He'd travelled far enough in his adventures, but still... That was a whole lot of water.
He felt a strange, cold feeling in the pit of his stomache, that he hated to identify as fear...
Meanwhile Urfra, blissfully unaware of Smuntsu's worry, pushed aside her own doubts and was instructing their other companions in what equipment to bring, and where they were going. She didn't show them the map, nor tell them exactly how far they were going... She feared they would lose their enthusiasm if she did. She was worried, but mostly she was excited... She would finally meet Warghui Kutsmobzon! The legends said he was quite handsome... She dreamt of her adventures to come that night, until the sun rose, and she got to her feet, kicking Smuntsu awake where he sat near her and shouldering her backpack.
She nodded firmly once Smuntsu had woken their little group, and then turned away from the village, heading eastwards.
