I went and killed those criminals in the town 'Taxlove' along with three priests, a marksmandwarf in the fortress, a human planter in the marketplace. Went back to the hamlet to the west and told two npcs that the criminal threat is over basically.

So is this playthrough for now as I kind of feel sick from it. As in I just don't have the heart to kill innocents for no reason and yet will give bugger all when I'm furious.
Point is. It seems ZM5 has fixed whatever problem he had with the Draenei and off-shoots of them crashing the game so I'll be genning a fresh new world with the Draenei and Lost Ones in it sometime later. Hopefully no crashes happen and I can have my 7th incarnation of good Dhorna start amongst the Draenei along with peaceful dance forms, music and poems. A world with npcs I can feel affection towards.

I tend to try to be careful about who I kill in those, and tend to avoid "criminals" for that reason.

Sometimes it's bleeding obvious, like you're wandering around in the castle basement and find a random NPC called a "warlord" or somesuch. One case I asked someone their job, and they said "lieutenant." I boasted of killing a bandit lord, and they spat at me, which seemed enough evidence for a conviction, confirmed when the local dwarves thanked me for her death.

But in general, yeah. I don't follow up with quests if I can't find someone who obviously has some kind of criminal tie.

And even then, how do you know these bandits are evil and that your liege is good? Role play it, I guess...

Normally with a "criminal" your character will say "I have nothing for you", however not all commanders/warlords/etc trigger that response. I sort of use that when deciding what to do.

There's also this concern. You are not your character supposedly. So your character may be a brainwashed fool who says to someone, "I have nothing for you."

So yeah. It's RP, not RP, or whatnot.

7 world map tiles south and 1 east of the empty town Confinedlove, is Dreamgulf---the town names this time around when grouped together really work.

Ud's been trailed by a band of various animals since Bulbouswisp/Confinedlove and they seem to look on at the various things he does. Ud traded the highly ornamented masterwork bronze shield he took from a goblin axelord he threw into an obstacle a while back for an iron great axe in Dreamgulf's market. Well worth the exchange done in the most fitting place.

The throne room of this keep was where Dreamgulf's most esteemed held their conclave. Ud moved past them after inspecting each, moving downward into the dungeon where he met goblin commander Artha Idothad, once a miner, now a mace lord. The greeting did not trigger an "I have nothing for you" message, so she managed to live another day. Skill-wise it would have been worth killing everyone in the keep from its bowels to the roof just to break in a new weapon.

Instead, Ud found an axewoman who shared similar values and he gave her the goblin axelord's masterwork silver battle axe.

I died very very quickly to a titan I was hunting down for fame and fortune (No hearth order, not even a hearth) as a Human Barbarian who was already a defender of the helpless from killing bandits.

I lasted all of 5 seconds

Yesss, you web-immune little spider pastries.

And hmm, I oughta go toying with resurrection interactions as compared to reanimation.

More kills, more scars, I eventually decide to take on the demon moose fiend that is warring against my civilization in the hopes of stopping or at least delaying its destruction, I kill some goblins in the towers and eventually reach the demon and I and only able to harm it via stabbing its hands and making it bleed. After a long, long, long, long, long, LONG time I decided that this demon will probably get a lucky hit long before it bleeds out, so I get out of its line of sight and leave the dark fortress.

I decide I shall visit the necromancer tower that lies in the southern wastes, I bring a elf spearmen with me for reasons. I eventually reach it and have to deal with the numerous zombies, sadly elf friend didn't make it, I kill the necromancer and take a book with knowledge of life and death, its useless for me since I'm an elf but I'll take it with me anyway, I didn't come all this way just to take back nothing. I go on a grand walk around most of the world back to the western lands, and by legends viewer I find a vault, I decide that I'm not quite ready and decide to head to an island in the middle of an enormous lake that's in the middle of the grand mountain range that covers much of the world, after a long walk and swim I reach the island, not much life but there is a cave...which has a hydra, oh dear. After a good while I was able to make it suffocate, Rip hydra of the hidden island.

I wandered toward my keep after slaying a giant, seeking the dwarf who had sent me after her in the first place.

[I looked up the name by going through old reports, and found in the "people" list that Dastot was the mayor of the Absolute Rock. I learned that this was the name of the group, not the location, and as such I couldn't find him on the map directly. And so...]

I wandered through several dwarven settlements, introducing myself to their mayors. In one case, I wandered into the drinking mound, and found out that this was the settlement ruled by "The Absolute Rock." I wandered to the castle mound, and it was empty save for a lone smith. So I wandered to the civic mound, and there was the mayor Dastot, of the same last name.

I mentioned to him that my comrade had slain the giant so and so, and he declared it inevitable. I guess that says something about my reputation. I followed up by asking him trading partners, and learned that this was one of the four sites that trades at my keep, the Perfect Bastion in Tangledholds. Keep that in mind for future reference...

While returning to The Perfect Bastion, I stumbled across a lair. Inside, I found a peasant. A lycanthrope [almost certainly]? I didn't feel like waiting around to wait for him to transform, but I didn't want to leave him there. What will I do...

I know, I'll make him a hearthperson!

[I've never actually found any of my hearthpeople, about four so far, loitering in my keep, os I assume this is a fairly safe option? It'll be interesting at any rate.]

I then went back to the local tavern and bragged of our recent exploits. I asked the barkeep if there were any troubles and learned of a bandit camp far to the west, across the inland sea. Well, I haven't explored that region of the world yet. Why not?

word for the wise, Don't resurrect skeletons in keeps the game doesn't like that and will crash.
probably if you had dfhack on hand to implant a random historical unit into the corpse before Rezzing it.
like say a God. probably going to see if ghosts still keep the ghosts when you resurrect them after putting them to rest. like does the game remove the ghostly flag on the unit or is there a way to bring back an adventurer as a ghost that way.

It might be better to just make reanimation generate a non-hostile undead. :V

well you don't get access to good talking points with.  Resurrection looks for an identity to revive and the skeletons in found in tombs are placed there in the game like someone made a prop skeleton than someone burying their dead.
that said the mummy is safe to resurrect.
man still laughing at past dead spider-men due to webbed opponent breaking free the 1 nanosecond they were webbed and punching the spider miles away.
silly side idea, but now I'm pondering a world where the main races has a caste with the nightcreature_bogeyman token on and an interaction that allows you to transform them to the safe version of their race so you could pull beings out of the dark.

Shit, I need to kill a paladin in my world and drink their blood to become one myself then.
I'm wondering what the effects of doing this would be in terms of world history.

It probably crashes when you res a unnamed skeleton because the skeletons in catacombs and such are usually just skeletons of dead entity populations (It does track the amount of dead directly in each city) so they dont have a historical figure associated and it doesnt know how to create a "soul" from nothing. As toady has mentioned.

That's been mentioned, yes. The idea that they aren't linked to an actual individual has been regarded as the cause of it.
