Other thread got temp locked due to flame war (which toady wiped), but I wanted to post this so you guys know I'm paying attention (now I'm leaving it here for general server rules). I figured we should have our own thread and not clutter the minecraft thread with our dramatics.

Aww hell, I step away from the internet for half a day... takes a long time to post this from phone.

First off, when I get back late tonight I will attend to the issues:  here's what I'm going to do about it.

I'll admit, the first time I saw the giant penis spaceship before it was finished, I chuckled. Sure, it didn't fit the dwarf fort theme but I'm not a heavy-handed admin. I didn't start a bay12 server to be able to tell people what to do or boss anyone around, or abuse OP powers. I was willing to let the dongcraft slide as long as it didn't bother anyone.

However, it does bother people, and people have told me and posted that it bothers them. While it does not personally bother me, I realize not all of us have the luxury of playing in private and that some of us do not enjoy having to see giant spaceships that resemble penises and other phallic objects all over the server. I would not enjoy depictions of furry porn in minecraft, so I will draw the line, nothing offensively sexual on the server. Use your common sense though I realize it's not so common.

Don't argue with me that "you see a penis there so you must have a dirty mind/it's not really a penis". That's cute. Feel free to argue with anyone else but the intent is pretty clear here to me. It was made more clear by the giant space vagina I'm hearing reports about. Feigning ignorance doesn't work either ("This doesn't look like child porn to me!" doesn't fly with me or the FBI) I was somewhat amused but I've got to be clear on this one. People are now just trying to be dicks to other people. It's not really cool. Those involved know who they are and I don't need to point them out. On the other side, no goading either, it'll just aggravate the trolling.

So I'm mandating that we all quit being dicks to each other. I'm not saying we all need to hold hands and sing kumbaya, just the server only has one real rule: Don't be a dick. Don't make me hand out deOPs and bans for creating giant dicks and vaginas when people ask you to stop because I will and I'll be laughing the whole way through as it's an i-don't-even-know reason to have to ban anyone.

As I said before, I will upload the previous maps soon and you can also play with them as you wish. That way you won't lose work on the penis ship or you can delete the sexual stuff if you want for your oun purposes.

However, when you play/are with other people, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should- especially if it's making giant sex organs in internet legos or being annoying/offensive just for the sake of it.

My previous post stated that I am a lax admin. I want to trust you guys to moderate yourselves. I believe we are all mostly reasonable, so be reasonable. I'm seeking to post my reasoning instead of a simple, "LOLNOURB&" so I hope that I have been clear. I am attempting to be fair.

I wanted to form a server with proper admin/OPs/trusted member permissions. I have not done this yet and it is my fault for I have been busy. Know that the current system will not last. All OPs will be deOPed and OP reassigned to a specific few who prove trustworthy. Abuse of OP will be dealt with sharply. I am listening to any and all complaints. Maybe we'll have a separate server where giant dicks of all sorts are okay.

Anyhow, I apologize for the inconvenience as I am busy, but I hope that I and the server can accommodate as many bay12 minecraft peeps as possible and be fun- Especially compared to the state of other minecraft servers. Continue to let me know what you want/need/feel so I can fix the server and make it better. (Besides the on and off downtime due to java errors - I hate java.)

Before even reading the post I must say this: It is always dangerous to open another thread on the lines of a locked discussion.

So, to prevent the problems that could arise: Do not continue the discussion here, Toady One locked the thread to stop it until he could deal with it. I will wait until his ruling before you hear any more out of me on the topic, the rest of you should do the same.

I was in the middle of posting as the thread got locked, and people were waiting for my word as they were slinging mud. This is what I have tried to make clear previously but have failed. So I am taking responsibility.

Hopefully this clarifies things so we can move on. I've been getting messages all morning.

First sign of a shitstorm I'll lock my own thread. but I am open to opinions about the direction people want the server to go.

Ugh, you're having issues with flamewars from giant sex organs on your private server, and I'm having issues hunting down and banning a giant griefer on my private server. It's gotten to the point where I've just banned the guy's entire possible block of IPs at the server level (<3 Linux).

I'm not sure which one of us has it better, beyond the fact people should really be more mature for both us.

Also, I'd be willing to be an OP if you think I'd be trustworthy. I'm not sure how often I'd be on, though.

In the next map gen, can you make the surface area bigger? I'm looking around and it seems pretty small and cluttered. More space would be nice.

@SKRen: The map I'm looking at certainly has a lot of surface area, but like the 2nd half underwater map, it may be hit or miss with people.

I would love to see screenshots of everyone's work. I was not able to explore enough to see nearly a fraction of everyone's projects.

Maybe, since there are so many pictures, you could create an album on one of those photo upload sites and link that instead of posting all the pictures here. I personally like Imageshack for that purpose. (If you do it that way, you can post a second album with the questionable stuff for those that want to see that, so long as we don't discuss it here.)

Not much to take pictures of, as far as my GREAT AND MAGNIFICENT WARSHIP is concerned, as I wrecked it in an EPIC DUEL with Sensei last night. I suppose it's intact enough to still see the basic shape, but it's full of holes and almost cut in half in a few places... :/

That would be so epic that some of you would likely suffer severe brain hemorrhaging from the sheer awesome of witnessing its epic awesomeness, but that's a risk we must take!

*Which would mean at or above the map edge, otherwise someone could flood it with water from the edge and ruin all the epic awesomeness.

If you're not using it already, you can probably do this with omen. I've never used it though, so I don't know.

Actually, playing around with omen, I just discovered something THAT BEATS THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF MAGMA ISLANDS: CAVERNS. WITH MAGMA. IT WILL GIVE YOU A FATAL OVERDOSE OF AWESOME.

I generated a cavern map, then added a single block of magma in the air. I didn't add it high enough (low enough, actually, omen seems to invert the height) to fill all of the space below it, but this is enough to demonstrate its potential for awesome.
