She's dreaming that she's an elf.

In a good share of tantrum spirals, I have had entire apartment blocks go off doing this.

She's dreaming that she's an elf.
The tantrum will end when she starts dreaming that she's a walking ball of magma burning said elf.

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.

Whether or not a dwarf is sleeping doesn't matter for when the tantrum happens.

They may just as well wake up during a tantrum sleep and the first thing they do is picking up their own bed and tossing it out of the door.

I suggest you lock the doors.

They didn't wake up. They just continued to anger in their sleep and cooled off by the time they actually awoke. A few tantrums later *Nothing was vandalized, strangely*, she finally went berserk, killed her pet mule, ran outside and got killed by my traps.

Can a beserk/insane dwarf open a door thats been marked as forbidden or do you have to use a lever?

An insane dwarf is the same as a goblin; it cannot open a forbidden door (maybe not even one that is simply closed) and doesn't have buildingdestroyer and cannot deconstruct the door.

However, I have seen tantruming dwarves destroy normal doors and workshops.

Beserk dwarves will ignore an unlocked door which had been forbidden before the mood tripped off. Once someone or something goes through the door however.....

I've seen a tantruming dwarf destroy bridges, so not even those are safe. Also, it was over a 7-8z drop and one of the most crowded hallways in my fortress.

Tantruming dwarves may break doors, or just toss them, but berserk dwarves behave no different from the dwarves that come with goblin invasions. Strangely, berserk dwarves are less angry then tantruming dwarves, after all, what kind of berserker can't even break down a door when he's in his berserk rage, while he can do it when just 'moderately pissed off'?

I had a swordsdwarf go into a martial trance while sleeping at his post. He dodged seven gobbos with spears and axes until he woke up, at which point he started redecorating my entrance hall. With goblin gibs.
