I'm not saying it like a bad thing but I’m just wondering
Ex. A while back, at school our teacher put a hypothetical statement up on the board about finding gold on the school grounds, I almost said that I would build a fortress there.
Ex. I subconsciously to go to a part of my land with a pickaxe and start digging for oil and iron.
Ex. I recently tried blacksmithing.
Ex. I thought about becoming a mining engineer.

Is it just me or is Toady One brainwashing us to think like Dwarves?

I hate to break this wonderful combo, but I think it's relevant to mention that Toady has mentioned several times that the concept of things that are "Dorfy" is not a thing of his own intent or invention.

Today at work (pawn shop), I saw a large, probably 10 lb, pickaxe head in one of our buckets of junk, and my eyes glazed over with glee. I might buy it tomorrow.

I also sometimes have to resist a powerful urge to claim any odd socks I see lying around.

And I drink a lot.

Worked in reverse for me.  I valued each dwarf to the point of reloading seasons if I lost one.  Now... now I lock them in rooms to starve them to death, I murder royalty in their death sleep chambers and I knock down towers full of dwarves to "see what happens".  So if anything he's teaching us that their lives are only there to amuse twisted and sadistic gods.

Slightly OT: Mining Engineering is an interesting career path (it involves big machines and blowing shit up) and you can earn a lot of money but more often than not you have to live in the middle of nowhere in mining towns where men outnumber women 5:1 and half the women are lesbians.
