Additional bonuses are either from description or luck. Or a combination of the two. I find that luck will strike about 10% (good) or 10% (bad) of the time for most actions.
You guys are fast.
The goal of the game is to score the most possible points. I just didn't count out points, because I was lazy.
Resources need to be explicitly used and are otherwise assumed to be the means by which you keep your guild running on a day-to-day basis. As such, a lack of resources may lead to stagnant growth, eventually.
BuildingsHeadquarters – Increases the likelihood of city growth. Only one HQ per guild. Only one HQ per city.
+School+ - like a school, but better!
Encourage Growth – Has a chance of growing the city by 100 people.
Create Wealth – Use a local resource to generate 1 unit of wealth (max: 2, min: 0)
GlassRockIn Mitanni, the school graduates seven apprentices. While the school appreciates the presence of a master, said master did not appear to have any beneficial effect on the final learning experience of those taught. (The apprentices of the two other present masters were conglomerated with the school)
Working with the local government, a simple market is set up, from where travelling merchants might peddle their goods. As the benefactors of the market, GlassRock is promised a small portion of the wealth from the market every year.
Another master journeying to Pisani took up two apprentices as he wandered the land. Upon reaching Pisani, he set out to search for a local resource of Lapis Lazuli, the only gem he knew of, but both he and the apprentices failed to find any gems in the area. The master is certain there is no Lapis Lazuli, but there may be other gems in the area.
All former masters retire, as they are destined to

TrueForgeThe two masters set out to improve their techniques and resources. Taking on five apprentices altogether, they survey the land for the rumoured flux stone. Testing many useless minerals, they finally find one they believe to contain the necessary properties, and dub it limestone.
The other master invents a technique by which he can turn the lumber into charcoal, thus improving the local lumber resource of Elba. Their forges work hard and the guild is a precious and wealthy one, of great value to Elba. Recent immigration and growth reflects this.
The former masters retire, leaving the five apprentices to carry on the work.

FreemasonsHearing rumours of a grand school in the city of Mitanni, the Freemasons set out to create a school to rival that of GlassRock. With two masters working on the school, the work is quickly done and deciding they wish to rival the other school, they improve on it further, refining its qualities. This school is certain to motivate all students to achieve!
During their time working on the school, they each take on two apprentices, whilst the staff that will eventually house themselves in the school manage to teach an exceptional three. Altogether, seven new masters graduate, as the school is finished in time for them to do so.
The former masters, content with the splendour of their +school+, retire to live out the rest of their lives in Alpanatia.

GoldCoin GuildDeciding that the best course of action is to follow the works of those in the city of Mitanni, a guild is erected that will deal not in precious stones, but in precious metals. Most unfortunately, however, it does not attract as many students this year as other schools have. A single student graduates from it, and the two masters together teach four new apprentices to carry on the gold trade. Altogether, five new masters see the light of the next generation.
However, not all is lost as a mighty headquarters is built in Troy. This opulent structure attracts many visitors, some permanent, to the grand city of Troy and the local government makes it clear that none other than GoldCoin Guild may house a permanent headquarters in the city (although this does not prohibit the other guilds from operating in the city proper).

BonersSlaughtering the fat and the weak of the herd, the livestock remains strong and meaty. An attempt to build a permanent school out of skin and bones is met with eventual failure. It simply cannot withstand the test of time and sees no use before the end of the generation. This is found to be unfortunate, but perhaps in time new methods will be discovered and a true school of the ages can be built to accomodate the butchers of the new era.
In an attempt to encourage growth, cheap meat is sold to the populace. At first, this is met with skepticism, as people believe the meat to be tainted. However, this myth is quickly dispelled and soon, many people come to the city to purchase the cheap meat, some staying permanently. Due to the smart use of the local herd, no wealth or resources are truly lost.
Finding themselves aged and tired, the three masters have together trained six new apprentices to take their places.
