You really should be able to look this stuff up on your own, but I'll give it a shot.  Call of Cthulhu is a low-power, classless RPG, where under any competent GM the focus is much less on character abilities than it is on player abilities.  Although I guess you're still supposed to act in character.  But the point is, you run around investigating mysteries and otherworldly plots, like a gun-totting Scooby Doo gang, except every campaign is expected to end with at least one character insane/eaten/displaced.  Preferably all of them.

Basically, Bram Stoker's Dracula with more action, about as much implied writing, and tentacled horrors waiting in the dark.
