40d: Cant see trader profit?
« on: March 13, 2010, 10:08:10 am »

Hello all, My fortress has starved so I reclaimed it. However when I try to trade, I cant see the trader profit in the bottum left. Need help cause its making trading hard. :( I will post  a screenshot when the next caravan arives. I made a new Trade Depot. and now I just have to wait for a caravan and hope the glitch is fixed.

Theres alot of bugs relating to reclaiming, but I can't find one that exactly fits yours. However, I think this one might be the closest: 000561 □ [dwarf mode][reclaim]   (Report) some trade information remains after abandon, tying up objects

Did you make a new depot or are you using the old one?

I don't do reclaims, so I can't help out much here.

Try deconstructing your old one, or just forbid the old one and use whatever stone or wood is lying around.

You mentioned that the Trader Profit value is missing. Are the various item values themselves still visible, or do you only see their weights?

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

I could still see the value of the items, I think. I made a new depot and its all fixed now! (Also I had it so anyone can trade, maybe it has to do with that?)

Might have had something to do with having anyone trade. A dwarf without any apprasial skill won't be able to see the value (or maybe just the quality?) of items that the merchants have.

It's value; any dwarf can ascertain the quality of an item, but not the inherent value when trading. I learned this the hard way when I didn't bring a trader along on my first fort.

Nod. If you can't see the value of any of the items, then you can't know what the trader's profit is.

Sounds like the first time you built your depot you had someone without appraisal skills. When you tried again, your real trader probably came by because by default a depot has "trader only" for trades.

Even automatic genocide would be a better approach
