does anyone else play this game online on the PC? been bugging my RL friends to play get it but they all went for the xbox version. It would be awesome to play with other bay12 guys and gals while i should be working on my next x-com post *hopes no one will notice*

but seriously, is there a tag everyone uses? does anyone else play? can we play together in a completly platonic way?

I wont be able to play too often as I devote much of my free time to either my x-com LP (which I am not dropping in case my readers were worried) or my lovely wife... or school, i guess

I'm going to necro this failed thread with an announcement! this weekend you can download and play modern warfare 2 multiplayer for free. I have a couple friends who will be getting in on that. if anyone here is interested in trying the game out, you can start to pre-download it for the weekend.

I would love to see recognizable people in the game, we could group up and such.

My experience of the free weekend:
Preloading was a fucking lie. I got 4gb of something but it's not the game. Booting that gives an error. Verifying the cache does nothing. restarting steam deletes it and starts again. This time the game "works". Alt tab is still broken and ctrl alt delete is extremely unreliable too. Several failed lobbies later, i get in a game, which hangs on the loading screen. Without ctrl+alt+del, i'm forced to reboot. Another failed lobby later, i get in a game, choose a class and get nuked. Score screen reveals somebody with 25:0 k:d with the match time being a little over 30 seconds. Then the lobby fails again. Now it's permanently stuck trying to find a match. It finds one, goes to "game sarting in X", counts down to 3 or so, then charges the map or swaps out a player and starts anew. It's been doing that for several minutes now.

but its Friday? shouldn't it not be working until Saturday?

I've gotten into the odd game where someone was cheating/ having someone boost them for the nuke. just leave and go to another one. I've never had trouble getting into games for more than a minute. I believe I'm not getting access to a lot of the matches that are being played but the amount that I am getting into is adequate.

And yeah, the matchmaking in this game is horrible horrible. Especially when the random number god decides you REALLY want to play one level over and over and over.

yeah, this one night I was doing really bad on Afghan, decided to try something else, got afgan 4 more times in a row. doesn't happen often and i cant really get mad about it.

now the way the game divvies up the teams is a bit inane. all the prestige on one team, all the noobs on the other sometimes.

I would like to know more about how the "play with friends" system works. i click the "invite friends" button in game but nothing happens. I didnt have anyone waiting for an invite or anything.

fenrif kicked butt all night but I had a pretty rotten streak. to be fair i'm purposely using one of the worst guns in the game because i'm cool like that

my brother and friend seemed to be pretty bad at the game on the computer. they are used to playing it on the xbox. I pity the foo who pays a monthly connection fee for what I get for free.
