This game needs a tag line
« on: March 12, 2010, 12:08:46 am »

Yeah, "losing is fun" is the MOTTO, but, when telling someone about DF ... you need something that snaps.  Has a pop to it.  A nice ring and gets the point across.

I submit the following

"The most awesome mod for notepad EVER!"

or

"If Tolkien threw up alphabet soup."

maybe

"What you would get if a ninja, a dinosaur, a pirate, a shark with lasers and Chuck Norris sat down and made a video game out of refrigerator magnets."

The last one isn't exactly snappy or concise, but, I think it gets the point across!  Thoughts?

"Magma, losing, horrible hidden fun stuff, gruesome schools of carp, dwarves, stuff-you-can't-read (ASCII) all rolled up in one game that doesn't take one friggin' GB!"

This.

If only it was that easy.

-- Wouldn't calling it a mod to notepad be misleading?

That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

Dwarf Fortress - She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid.
Dwarf Fortress - Redefining "Fun" since 2006!
Dwarf Fortress - You will never look at fish the same way again.
Dwarf Fortress - Head-crushing depth?  Yeah, we've got that.
Dwarf Fortress - Life wishes it could be this interesting.

That one has some snap to it!  We'd need to get the guy from the Allstate commercials to read it though ...

Found this image on the "Dwarf Fortress Addicts" Facebook page. I think that it pretty much sums it all up.

Also, who could forget: "WELCOME TO FUCKING BOATMURDERED! Hope you like miasma!"

How about "History of X and Y," where X and Y are both nouns that are randomly chosen from a list. So you could have "Histories of Avarice and Industry," or "Histories of Gluttony and Perseverance," or "Histories of Avarice and Perseverance."

(On a side note: started up the game three times, and those were the things I got. Is the list small, or is the combination of the first two titles to create the third the result of Armok Herself--u c wat i did thar?--guiding them to give us a TRUE tagline?)

Speaking of which...

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD has always had a certain ring to it.

Totally reminds me of that otter lawyer guy on Animal Crossing, Lyle.
