I've been thinking of how to play scum without tells, but I have concluded that it is almost inevitable to be found out, eventually, unless you sometimes turn on the other scum...  Then again, I guess the Godfather might come in useful to decrease the scum-lynch-rate.

Look back at some of the old games. You can learn a lot about scumtells, what to do, and what not to do.

Well, my first game was 3 player lylo in Vote Mafia.  And my second was Time Travel Mafia.  So you can start on complicated games if you so wish, but...

I am the reason there is a godfather in this setup.  I cleared 2 townies in NSBM leaving the 2 scum exposed, and if I had realised there was no godfather in the setup (or if dakarian had answered my question... grr...) then we would've won (to be honest, due to pandar's panicking obv-scumminess, we should've won anyway, but whatever).

Hey, all we/I had to do was get you too caught up in the cop results to look at the actual game then make you think Godfathers were actually possible, which we/I did successfully. :3

The big trick with scumtells is twofold:

1. It's not just scum that fling them.  EVERYONE does, scum and town.  It doesn't make scumtells useless, since they are the key to reading people, but it's how you use them that make the difference.

2. The key to being scum isn't to not throw scumtells (you'll find that actually increases your scumtells, sort of like defending yourself makes you more of a lynch target).  The idea is to cover your tells so that few notice them while noticing and taking advantage of the tells others throw.  This is done with pro-town attitudes, WIFOM, buddying, and the other techniques the scum uses to confuse and weaken the town.   

Remember, time is the weapon that is on YOUR side as scum.  The longer the town has to gather together, the longer it takes for them to put the pieces together, the better your chances at victory.

Blarghity-blargh I can't decide whether or not I should take BMIX out of freeze when I have a chance or not.  Any ideas?

Better to put it out of freeze than to leave it there.  If the story is getting in the way then it's ok.  I've always allowed myself the ability to quickpost during flavoring so that the story doesn't get in the way of the game.

if it's due to the lack of players, still better to worry about that during the day than to be stuck at night.

It's that this week is pure hell--4 (or 6, if you actually count them based on "standard length") problem sets, 2 midterms (+2 the week after spring break in two really difficult courses), killer stress, blahblahblah.

Anyway, I'll pull that sucker out of freeze the minute I can.
