How to drink?

Recently started to play adventure mode to see my fallen fortress, but that's a different story. The title might be a little misleading, as I know how to consume items(thank you wiki) but how do I pick up more water and drink it? I lack a water skin.

Well, there are a few things you can do.

First is on a case-by-case basis, where you just walk up to the edge of a water source (lake, brook, pond, so on), and then hit the drink button.  You'll see something like "Drink from brook (NW)" on the list.

Second is a kind of short-term reserve.  Walk around in the rain or hop into a pool or something, and your clothes will get a "water covering".  You can drink those (an interesting sidenote here is that if you're swimming around in saltwater, you can drink the water clinging to your clothes, but not the water you're swimming in).

Third is the impromptu storage option.  You can fIll your backpack with water.  You don't necessarily need a waterskin.

Ohhh its I not L,Thanks. PS. I got to my fortress to find that it had no monsters inside, but the five remaining citizens(use to be 40) are having some type of wrestling match. Urist Mcdyer(Am I doing it right?) slams into an Obstacle, Urist Mcdyer has gone unconscious, Urist Mcdyer has regained conscious(repeats for the entirety of my stay). They seemed to be picking on the poor fellow, I think he was insane(flashing !).

Find the booze stockpile, pick up some of the booze from the barrels. You can eat that and it counts as water.
Yes, you carry it as stacks of booze in your backpack. Liquids are wierd.
