And how did YOU get to be in the Queen's entourage?

So, my "King" has finally arrived with her entourage. The entourage consists of:

- Three "Hero" Royal Guards
- A single no-skill peasant.

Eh, peasant? Is the king supposed to come with an immigrant wave and this is just a really small immigrant wave, or what? I'm already above the population max (I reduced it in init.txt after getting this many dwarves.)

Freakin' peasant. What should I do with her?

Check the legends, if there is no answer there, then no idea.

Sometimes I've seen a peasant bieng listed in the units list, so maybe she did something noteable like taking out a megabeast somehow.

Royals will arrive with an entourage that includes their family members.  You've probably got the queen's husband or son/daughter on your hands there.

Nope. She's not on the civilization-units list, and she's not a relative of the Queen.

I've turned off all her labors and set her profession to "Yes-dwarf".

I probably won't do anything more interesting with her, since I'm probably going to abandon this fortress pretty soon anyway. I've mostly just been waiting for the Queen to show up for a while anyway. Mountainhome on my first fortress, I'm pretty happy :)

I haven't heard of the king and queen arriving with their family members, not including their extended family of course or you would have upwards of 20+ dwarves on your hands.

Ah, slight correction: only the spouses will arrive.  But that includes all spouses of all members of the entourage.  Your stray peasant there is probably married to one of those elite Royal Guard Dwarves.

Idea 1 - King Consort, unofficial peasant consort, unofficial peasant consort 2, unofficial soap maker consort, unofficial recruit consort...

Idea 2 - Monarch brings along various servants, haulers and helpers.  Think Xerxes from 300, the peasant might be the royalty's official throne carrier/living red carpet.

Well, then maybe you did just end up with a retainer or something.  It's also possible that the game needed a migrant wave in order to shove the monarch into your fort and just spawned a peasant to get away with it.  I'm actually not too familiar with the mechanics of that whole aspect.


But yes, Mountainhome on your first fortress is impressive.   Very impressive.  Even with this version.

Maybe there was a case of mistaken identity at the mountainhome and they brought this peasant rather than the Liaison/Advisor?  Did you happen to have the dwarven caravan on the map at the time?

maybe the queen adopted the peasant and is trying to teach it the proper way of living life as royalty, i.e. manners, etiquette, how to properly create mandates, who to have hammered for not fulfilling said mandates, etc.
