Thanks to everyone for your patience while I got my computer fixed. I tried to get on the forums using my laptop this past week but experienced the "high latency connection" issues Toady talked about in today's dev log.
I may have been a bit briefer than usual in my descriptions, but I wanted to get another turn out there.

A near-disaster strikes when a faulty boat design is attempted, but the tribe's skill with boats prevents any men from losing their lives. The two tribes begin to develop a class of skilled traders, who understand how to get two groups of people to interact economically in the best way possible.

Fisheries are set up to some success, providing ample food for the tribe. Although no mature whales are caught this year, a young one is taken down and slaughtered, bringing more food to the tribe. This food, combined with the spices, means many more children are born. Seaweed is collected, and only a wise old fisherman saves a young man from being attacked by a lurking shark.
