TRIBES 2 - A Whole New World - YEAR EIGHT RESULTS UP
« on: March 10, 2010, 08:49:57 am »

Welcome to TRIBES 2, where eight groups of ancient people will battle for supremacy, take territory, trade amongst each other, establish cultures, and hopefully entertain us along the way.

Rules are below.

First eight players will be accepted. This is my first game on the forums, but I've run my share of games before.

This thread is inspired by this one here, which I was sad to see end relatively early. I will be taking the general ideas from there, putting in a few of my own, and running with it.

The players:

1. Barbarossa the Seal God - Gerjborn

6. JetSquirrel - Xio'Vi

8. Acanthus117 - Taer Nymadis

Standard Q: How deviated from the Human race can our tribe be?

I'll join, since the other game died. Can I use my tribe from there?

evilcherry - Good question. All the tribes will be basic humans. No major deviations (tails, claws, night vision, etc.) are allowed. However, if your tribe is shorter or taller, stronger or more beautiful than the average, that is allowed (within reason). It is worth saying that this is not a fantasy world, so no mages, psionics, or fantastical creatures will be included (unless I get overwhelming responses in the other direction).

Lidhuin - If you'd like to, feel free to use your tribe from the other game. Just make sure to re-post them in this thread.

Two spots still open. I'll be keeping a waiting list of up to 4 players, as well. The first turn will depend on how quickly everyone gets a tribe and first year's goals posted.

Guess I'll go ahead and sign up here. Seems like these die quickly.

Lemme know what all you need from me to start. I might suggest fewer peoples than you seem to have planned, as it can be a whole lot of work...

Haika - Glad to have you on board. I hear what you're saying, so I'm trying to keep it easy on myself by only guaranteeing one update per week. I think that will give me enough time to work everything out, and I assume most players would rather have one guaranteed update per week for a longer period rather than several quick updates and then a dead thread due to GM burnout.

As far as the tribe goes, just a general description will do to start. The people's characteristics, where the tribe lives, the tribe's temperament, how food is obtained, past-times, any deities, and so on. As the game goes on, each tribe will develop more personality based on the success or failure of goals, natural disasters, war, crime, etc.

I was thinking maybe a tribe of desert types. Capitol city at an oasis, but most food production would be from exotic animal control, giant scorpions, desert snake farms, vulture coops, sandworms. Depending on how exotic and fanciful you would allow wildlife. Mineral resources would come from a group of caves underneath a badlands rocky area near the outskirts of the civ to the north or something. With the main town set up as a trade route and resting place for people crossing the desert for whatever reason.

As to temperment, I'd say they are shrewed merchants, and love to haggle, so can be a little irritating to diplomatic types. They prefer to trade with people within reason, as long as they are making a profit. War campaigns would more likely involve buying mercenaries than drafting the population.

oh, and I imagine them as being highly religious, worshiping a sun diety of some sort.
