Welcome to TRIBES 2, where eight groups of ancient people will battle for supremacy, take territory, trade amongst each other, establish cultures, and hopefully entertain us along the way.
Rules are below.
First eight players will be accepted. This is my first game on the forums, but I've run my share of games before.
This thread is inspired by this one
here, which I was sad to see end relatively early. I will be taking the general ideas from there, putting in a few of my own, and running with it.
At first, the rules will be very general, and I plan to get more specific as the game goes on. To begin with, each player will create a tribe (consisting of 100 men, 100 women, 75 children and 25 elders). When creating a tribe, think of the major areas of life when describing it: how food is obtained, how it fights, any crafts or past-times, transportation, where you live, etc. However, remember that the tribe has to start off relatively ancient (i.e. you can't say that your tribe relies on industrial agriculture and uses an armored phalanx as its main military style... maybe eventually, but not to begin with).
After the first year, 1/10th of your children will become adults every year (i.e. 30 children = 3 new adults, 20 children = 2 new adults). This will round down (29 children = 2 adults).
Adults will become elders at the rate of 1 per 50. (i.e. 100 men and 100 women will result in 2 men and 2 women becoming elders per year). Similarly, elders will die at a rate of 1 per 50 (40 elders means one will die, 60 means 2, and so on).
Once all the tribes are created, I will draw up a map of some sort, just to have a visual reference.
Every turn, the player is in charge of setting up to four major goals for the tribe for the year (each turn is one year). I will be rolling a D6 to see how well each goal turns out, with the following scale:
1 = -5 population
2 = -3 population
3 = -1 population
4 = No change in population
5 = +3 population AND/OR Some benefit (resource, technology)
6 = +5 population AND/OR Major benefit (+1 roll bonus)
7+ = +5 population AND/OR Mega benefit (+2 roll bonus)
Battles will have a roll for each side, with the results modified by military strength. If you only set one goal, that goal has a +3 modifier. Two goals, one goal gets +2 and one goal gets +1 (either specify which one is the main goal, or I'll just assign based on my intuition). Three goals, each goal gets +1. Four goals get no modifier.
The only other rule to begin with is this: once the game gets going, I will be posting every Friday. If you don't post prior to then, expect poor outcomes for your tribe. If you miss two weeks in a row, your tribe will have a VERY unfortunate accident, to the benefit of the other tribes, and your spot will be opened for another player. If everyone posts prior to Friday, I will attempt to post ahead of time, but I make no promises.
When posting your tribe's goals, please put your tribe's name at the top of the post. If you need to do anything sneaky, feel free to PM me. Otherwise, either use spoilers or just post it, whatever you feel comfortable with.
Again, rules will develop as the game goes along. I look forward to playing. Additional rule suggestions will be considered.
