I need a bear

In current game, I captured a female polar bear. I was looking forward to capturing a male and breeding them. That was 4 years ago. Recently I tried preventing every other creature type available to my map from spawning(nospring,nosummer....). The result is that nothing spawns at all. Does it mean polar bears are "extinct"? If so, is there any way to get more?
I dont care how dirty cheating it may be, I really want those bears.

Mod their frequency up to 100.  I don't think their population count will respond to your changes but its worth a shot, just add some zeros to it.  Other then that, let up on the elf genocide for a while and see if they show up with one. 

Be sure to clear your data/objects out etc etc.

Elves bring dozens of empty cages. Maybe the animals dont survive journey to tundra. Also frequency of bear is 100. There are currently no wild animals on the map and none spawn.

Could I, perhaps, somehow arrange for a male polar bear to show on the map? Maybe make it a pack animal for caravans or something?

[COMMON_DOMESTIC][PACK_ANIMAL][trADE_CAPACITY:1500]

or

[COMMON_DOMESTIC][WAGON_PULLER]

might work, not sure what happens if you make it pack and a wagon puller at the same time.

Ask a Musk-Ox. They seem alright, though.
