Make it walk on land, and let it destroy buildings. Give it a paralyzing stare as a weapon, and a tractor beam that works on fisherdwarves.

Carpzilla...
Anyway, I love the idea of keeping some kind of dangerous carp they're ever "fixed". I think this one should be left intact and add an "elven pansy carp" or something as the more non-lethal version.

I just can't get rid of the image of a huge carp on rampage in a city now...

Rename the current carp to the new one and make it slightly rarer.
Make the new, fixed carp to replace what the carp was supposed to be.

Then again, if you made the carp's biome warmer you could call it a piraņa.

Pihrana, that seems to fit the carp more.

I don't know about you, but I rather like seeing the occasional fisherdwarf being mauled by a carp, rather because I am completely non-dependent on fish as a food or material source.

Perhaps deadly carp could be left as an easter egg, or left in the so called 'elven koi ponds' suggested a while back, or related areas.

The megabeast carp, in addition to its devastating bite, would need to breathe air, fly, and have a "stare" attack that does no damage but paralyzes its opponent. (For this attack, the megabeast carp would probably need a new extract.)

this is blasphemy?!?! inconceivable!

toady should have never fixed elephants, and now he is fixing the carp.

I say we tell him to unfix elephants and leave the carp alone. and add megabeasts of both to appease the Blood god!

bloodcarp have my vote.

Anyhow to answer the person's question

It isn't that the Carp were any less dangerous then other sea creatures

It is that Carp were so overwhelmingly abundant while ALSO being deadly that they became a threat. Also Carp attacked and I don't think all sea life attacks.

I don't generally see sharks swimming in rivers.

It is kindof funny how when the dwarves go fishing for carp, the carp go fishing for dwarves. I love the irony of that.
