As the trial for the screenshot utility I used to get the pictures for the updates has ended, this is kinda on hiatus until I can find another one. >_<

Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Ahh. There is a button called PrtScn, and if you press it and then like paste into like paint, that could work I guess. It's what I do when I need a screen shot.

Yes, but with updates easily coming to 100-200 screenshots (and that's BEFORE cutting out the unneccesary ones), doing that for every single screenshot is something I absolutely will not try.

All that I can think up now is just use google to find something.

Alright, so here's the deal.

In the coming week, I'll try to fiddle with the new screenshotting program I've found until I have found an acceptable way to use it, plus until I've found the right balance between good quality pictures and filesize. Until then, there will most likely not be a normal update. However, I will try to reorganize the topic a little bit: Adding an index, updating some music links, other such stuff. The week after that, I'll try to resume normal updating, until I've finished this chapter (which will take one or two updates). After that, another short break will re-ensue, where I will plan through most of the LP and the chapters (currently I've just done things off the top of my head. That will change).

The last thing I want to see is this LP dying (as have happened to my last two LP's*). Because this is a highly awesome game, and though even if it is slightly harder to LP, this deserves to not be abandoned halfway through. So thank you all for your patience.

Things are looking on the up! I managed to set up the new screenshot utility to work, as well as to save them as high-quality JPGs. Because otherwise it'll probably take two months just to load a single update. I will try to have the last(?) update in the chapter finished before the week is over.

Also, I've added an index to the opening post to reorganize the updates a little, so new readers (or more importantly, me) don't have to search all over the topic to find the important updates.

Also also, I'll start working on providing the music I refrained from adding earlier right now!

Spoiler: Chapter 2, Part 4 - Mithala (Part 1) (click to show/hide)

I felt sick and dreadful as I swam around the colossal intestine. I desperately wished that I could be somewhere, anywhere else than here. But I was forced to press onward.






As I kept making progress in these living tunnels, I found myself not moving on my own accord. I was like a slave to the streams flowing through here.






I spotted an object in the distance, but the currents made me overshoot. I would have to return there later.








((...oh goddamn it.))








I gazed upon the opening that lay in the ceiling. It looked like the passage led back to the main area of the Palace. I almost headed through there...

But after coming so long, I decided I couldn't give up there.







I discovered a very potent type of poultice, which could cure close to any wound.

((The Arcane Poultice (ohgodyes) restores all of Naija's Health, and is made by combining a Leaf Poultice with a Special Bulb and Eel Oil. This item is VERY awesome, unfortunately, special bulbs are also very rare.))







A horde of mutated shrimp flew throughout the passage by the stream's will. They lept at me, and I did my best to dodge, and retaliate in kind.





I peered into the dark depths, unknowing of what lay beyond. I'd fought many battles before, some easy, some difficult. However...



Few things could have prepared me for the battle against Mithala.

The large chamber opened up before me, covered in various engravings and patches of flesh. But the most important part about it was its inhabitant.



Mithala.



He opened its mouth and started to draw in the nearby water. I tried to escape his inhalation...



...to no avail. I narrowly dodged gnashing teeth...



...before being spat into the opposite wall.

I returned attack, firing bolt after bolt at its deformed head, channeling the fury of the God of Energy... to no effect. No matter how much power I put into each bolt, I could not harm him, only momentarily halt his advance.

Suddenly, he lunged at me, and grabbed me with his huge, scaly claws.




I quickly wriggled free and pushed him into the back of the room, until I realized that my attempts were futile. Once again, he started his slow, stuttering advance towards me, and fear started to overwhelm me as I backed into the wall behind me. I was helpless. Only now I realized that I had relied upon my powers of Energy to defend myself. But what if that no longer worked? What if I woke up one day to realize I couldn't do that anymore? I was as helpless as a newborn. I started to wonder how I had survived before my awakening in the first place.

The moment before my apparent death seemed to last forever. I didn't want to be there. I didn't want to be in that forgotten place, filled with disease and death. I wished I was back in my home, safe from any harm. I wish I had someone, or something, to protect me. Anything, I just wanted to be anywhere else! Anywhere!

...

If I couldn't defeat Mithala, who else could?

Who else could end this terrible infestation, this plague?

No one.

...

I had to continue. I could not die there, after coming so far. If strength of force could not win this battle, then strength of mind could.



Suddenly, I noticed one of the bloated, thick-shelled mutants I had encountered earlier. A plan hatched in my head. It wasn't the most likely plan to work, but it was a plan nonetheless. And I was running out of ideas.




In retrospect...




That plan worked far better than I had ever imagined.

((I didn't catch a particularly good screenshot here, so if you can't understand just by looking at the pictures, Naija carried a bloated mutant in front of Mithala, who then proceeded to try and inhale Naija. This caused him to inhale the mutant instead, which isn't very healthy.)



Enraged of my trickery, he summoned a mutant to distract me, while he tried to blast me from afar.



Luckily, I remember, back in the Cathedral, seeing a mutant swimming into a gas vent, quickly growing to become a Bloated One such as the one that Mithala had just devoured.

Mithala was sowing the seed of his own destruction.









Suddenly, his skin had started to redden, presumably from the sickly abominations he had eaten. His rage started to grow.












((This is about the point that I realize I need to feed him another mutant, not shoot him.)

After wincing in pain after eating a third mutant, I took my opportunity, and aimed a large energy bolt at his eye.





I narrowly dodged a stream of blazing energy, as I resumed my previous barrage. Suddenly, I was able to harm him!




The battle was intense...




But I triumphed.













Mithalas... as it once was...




A grand city, built by a noble people, and watched over by a royal family. They were all children of a god named Mithala.




The Mithalans immortalized their gods noble visage in stone, and built many statues honoring him throughout Aquaria. For hundreds of years, the city of Mithalas stood strong, providing its inhabitants with long, fulfilling lives.



If only the vision had ended there.

If only every Mithalan had been noble.




With the comforts and safety of the city, came a new calling... eternal life. The Mithalan priests, who acted as Mithala's mouthpiece, saw the coming of a greater god.



A Creator, who had designed and given life to each of the gods. A Creator that would eventually destroy their entire race, as he had so many others.



The priests delved deeper into the hidden secrets of the Verse to escape the bonds of mortality. But the powerful magic they discovered came with a high cost...



They bound Mithala in chains, and began drawing out his life force to power their song. They executed "heretics" one by one, forcing Mithala to feast... upon his own children...

Mithala began to change. His mind sank into the simple, dull anger of a beast. Eventually, he stopped shedding tears as he ate.

The hunger had consumed him.




The rot inside Mithala's heart grew. His body became bloated and deformed. His flesh began to spread throughout the city, polluting the waters.




Drask, the prince of the Mithalans, had seen his family die at the hands of the priests and their mutated disciples. He confronted the priests, and though he could not prevent their escape...



He did discover their secrets. I wondered if he still lived somewhere... beyond this world...



The vision began to fade. Mithala's spirit was departing. For the first time, I tried to reach out... to communicate...


Naija: "Oh great Mithala! I need your help...
Mithala: "Naija... I am dying now... it is my time to rest..."
Naija: "You have suffered so much, but I must ask a favor of you."
Mithala: "Speak quickly, little one... for I do not have much longer..."
Naija: "Wh-who am I?"
Mithala: "You are the Child of the Thirteenth. You are the one who will unite the waters of Aquaria. You will restore the balance of nature. And you will find love, Naija. You have so much to see, and you will become so much. There will be great pain... but I have faith that you will triumph in the end. Take heart... little one."
Naija: "...thank you..."
Mithala: "It is growing cold now... you have freed my spirit at last... now... little Naija... take my form... and journey... to the land of the light..."

In Beast Form, my strong animal legs allowed me passage through powerful currents, and my sharp jagged teeth proved invaluable for devouring my prey.

((Our second form! The Beast Form, as stated, allows you to swim upstream through currents as if they were pretty much non-existant. As if that weren't enough to make this form attractive, Beast Form also gives us powerful melee attacks with Naija's now more vicious fangs and claws, which is used by dashing into enemies. This is good if you're facing several swarms of enemies. Killing an enemy in beast form also automatically devours him, which causes a tiny health restoration.))






The foul, rank waters of before were replaced with the fresh water of the city.






((Another one of Beast Form's nifty features. If you devour an enemy that fires projectiles, you can sometimes gain the ability to shoot (a limited amount of) that creatures projectiles, such as these frogs ricocheting orbs.))





I discovered a banner bearing the city emblem, strangely preserved from the decay of the rest of the city. I carefully removed it and brought it home, not to remember what had been here, but to remind myself of what I had accomplished here.








A wave of relief washed over me, my heart pounded like it was about to erupt.

I had survived.

Many an innocent had lost their lives in Mithalas, their hopes and dreams had been extinguished without reason. They would not be forgotten. Their spirits would live on inside me, and in time...

I would avenge their deaths.
