Sidenote: Although I did some research on what items make sense for you to find, they are just flavoring. A seed is a seed, an ore is an ore here. If a plant I use can't be brewed in DF then Damn You Logic, in here it CAN.
Unsure of their purpose here, the crew decide to get to work. They know they'll need food very shortly, what with the small supplies they found so far. Leafsnail heads below where she found the seeds: a small cavern with a soft, moist floor perfect for farming. She shrugs and begins to work, planting the seeds. Soon, SirBayer shows up panting, "I.. wanted to help.. but .. I couldn't find yo..ohh." Leafsnail only shrugs as she shows that her work is already done. Pandarsenic, meanwhile, locates the magma forge and quickly begins his work. Below the both of them, the sounds of Vector and DreamThorn's work can be heard as they dig.
Most of the rest spend their time outside. RedWarrior0 makes a clearing by chopping down the maple trees outside the entrance while Errol Webadict,, Archangel, and Org frolic among the shrubbery.
They found a luxurious dining room to enjoy their meals in and some horribly small bedrooms to sleep in. Thus they spend their days until the leaves started to show their fall colors.
Pandarsenic pushes the sweat clung hair from her face as she admires her work. Not everyone can make a chainsaw from a mere forge after all. She even found enough gas to run the thing. Not only will it be good for the trees, but it'll also rock against..well.. anything! Pulling the string (also iron, though somehow it works as a rope), the chainsaw roars into life.
"GAH!"
Pandarsenic turns to see Vector, covered in dirt and soot and carrying several packs of rocks eye wide in shock. After Pandarsenic stops the engine, Vector says, "Just don't get any ideas" then places his packs on the floor. Vector mentions how DreamThorn was too busy down in the mines finishing up the catacombs to bring up the materials she found. Most of the sacks were hers, some petrified wood, a batch of bauxite, and some cassiterite ore. The last pack of puddingstone was Vector's prize.
Meanwhile, Leafsnail looks over the fruits, or rather, plump helmets of her labor. Beside her are more bags filled with seeds: prickle berry, and sun berries, fisher berry and rat weed, muck root, 2 bags each of muck root and strawberries. It seems everyone who went looking for seeds found more than they can handle.
Suddenly they hear RedWarrior0's voice call out, "HEY, Everyone! To the entrance! Hurry!" Once there, they see her, carrying 2 bundles of maple wood and attempting to point outside the door with her head.
She says, "There's a wagon full of stuff outside. They claim they're merchants."
Leafsnail used a bag of seeds to produce a bag of plants
RedWarrior0 chopped up enough trees for two bundles of wood.
Pandarsenic created an iron chainsaw (similar to an axe in design)
Vector has dug up some stone
DreamThorn has dug up two batches of stone, and some ore
Errol Webadict,, Archangel, and Org all succeeded in gathering 1 bag of seeds.

The first merchant has arrived. One one person can trade with him, preferably a skilled appraiser (since someone unskilled will fail). They can sell any item you own and buy anything listed. Everything has a value (which is now marked) but there's no real money here since everything works by trading. So no you can't sell things now and buy later. Any value you don't use just becomes a donation.
DF fans: Don't worry about 'merchant profits'. Pretend that's already been put into account.

Note that all of you who did something have become better skilled at what you just did. If you weren't skilled before you are now Skilled at it. If you were Skilled you are now Expert at it. Yes you can have skills at multiple areas.
