In North Africa, a small army tries to march towards Algiers and is promptly met by Spanish forces, forces which are quickly swept aside.



Soon after this battle peace was had with Spain, allowing this army to march to Liguria and sweep aside French forces in the area.


The completion of a Steam Drydock in Gibraltar meant that Heyreddin could have some new toys very soon.


Heyreddin already has added a couple rocket ships too his fleet.


He soon added a heavy first rate to the fleet, the heaviest single ship to ever serve in Austria's navy thus far.


The fleet quickly picked up the Marines, which where now free from duties in Morocco, and sailed north to Iceland.


Meanwhile back in Europe, the Main Army has reformed its artillery, 12lb cannons being replaced with 24lb Cannons, and a unit of Rocket Artillery being added to the army, meaning the army could finally march.


Just in time, as the French split their forces trying to commit to an offensive, leaving Paris ungarrisoned and within striking distance of the army, Paris was taken quickly, leaving France with only one province in the old world.


The French army retreated, soon forming into a desperate army to try and take back their capital.

Spoiler: 1769-1774 - Part 3 Conclusion (click to show/hide)

Fire rained from the heavens into the French army as they ran for cover and formed an offensive to storm across the the shallows on the river, there was a bridge but it was too heavily defended by the Austrians to Cross.



What broke out was a bloodbath, the french army pushed everything they could in a desperate push, the Austrian Dragoons firing into their lines, almost every shot finding a  target, the french numbers were so dense.


It took many deaths, and several rocket and quicklime barrages firing into the french lines but they we're finally broken, effectively destroying all french power in France.

I like when the enemy are tightly packed enough that you couldn't miss if you tried.

As the final months of winter passed, the General of the Icelandic Army marched against marines, deciding to rather make a stand then wait and let them marines starve them out.

They were immediately met by quicklime shells launched from Marine Mortars, which continued to barrage their lines as they marched.




Meanwhile the Marine skirmishers moved into lay fire into the Icelandic lines.


The Marine Grenadiers moved up and was met by Icelandic troops, causing a melee to break out, the Levy troops, raised as temporary support for the marines marched forward to support the grenadiers.


After breaking through the melee the grenadiers on the left front proceeded to conduct grenade attacks  on Icelandic formations, routing several units.


The right flank grenadiers doing the same.


When they weren't chucking grenades, the grenadiers we're conducting platoon firing, allowing a constant barrage of fire to be kept on opposing forces.


Finally the Marine Commander ordered his horses forward and routed the Icelandic general.


With his routing Iceland was now in Austrian hands, the island shipyards, useless for Austrian needs were torn down and replaced with a trading and fishing port, and infrastructure improvements were ordered across the island.


Meanwhile the empire focuses hits research efforts on advanced toilets.

That is quite epic.  Battle-wise, I mean. On the plumbing frontier, all innovation to benefit the empire is, nonetheless, progress. Hehehe. Toilets.

And apparently I'm such a DF addict that I thought "toilet trap" was a cunning defense mechanism.
