Gentlemen, we have finally got reinforcements and can begin our assault!
Despite our previous victory it is still expected that Istanbul has large amounts of defenders, luckily for us though, they are mostly just citizenry given a firelock and sent into battle, so we will not be throwing the entire army at them.
We also have support from Venice in the form of a small force of mixed units.
Here's the plan!
We will start out by having the Scorched Earth boys rip their walls to shreads.
Liederhosen's Finest and the 1st Infantry will be serving as the Forlorn hope for this mission, and the Hungarians will be serving as support for these units. In addition the Carbineers will be running skirmishing around the fort and and acting as furthur support for these units. If the forlorn hope falters we will send further infantry units to finish the assault, but due to the amount of citizenry, I am not expecting this.
You have your orders. We march at dawn.
The next day.The battle began as plan with the Artillery ripping into the walls of the fort, causing several of the enemy units to decide that it was better to sally then to wait in the fort as cannonballs ripped into it.
This was met by the Carbineers and the Ventians, the Venetian charging into their lines and ripping the Ottomans to pieces.
The Infantry then began their march.
Liederhosen's Finest would take the right breach, while the 1st would take the left, The Hungarians will support the first.
In a grenade assault the Hungarians got bogged down in bayonet combat.
But those enemies were soon routed and the 1st could start their assault proper.
Routing that unit the 1st broke right to flank a unit in combat with the Liederhosen's Finest, while the Grenadiers proceeded to chuck grenades at camels.
Routing them and allowing the infantry to kill off the rest of the defenders around the fort square, and leading to the capture of the fort.
And thus, Istanbul fell to Austrian forces, the Ottoman Empire was defeated, although still a power in the East, they were dramatically weakened, and had lost their holdings in Europe.
In the weeks following the Ottoman loss diplomatic activity between Austria and the Ottomans picked up, and soon a peace treaty was signed, forcing the Ottomans to cede all claims to territory in Europe. However Moldavia would be returned to Ottoman hands, but the Ottoman Empire was to give it Autonomy to rule itself, and to serve as it's protectorate, instead of it being a province of the Empire. This was done mainly to give the Austrian Empire a buffer state with the Russians, not to mention the rebellious population!
