The Ageless Plane (Empty World)
« on: March 06, 2010, 02:20:34 pm »

So, I accidentally managed to generate a world in which there was only ever one creature, the dragon known as Sloron the Sweltering Flame.  Worldgen stopped at year 30.

Yes, this printscreen also shows a human adventurer.  I wanted to see if I could have one spawn.

Needless to say, this was the Age of the Dragon.

So, there you are.  Though this might be of interest to people experimenting with empty worlds.

Here's a koan for you: if he's the only thing living in that entire world, and dragons get their names by terrorizing the sentient species around them, where did this one get his name from?

But, then who will slay this slayer?

Must he kill himself?

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

No, you must embark on this map.

It will be a creation myth.

Your seven dwarves were all hatched from the eggs of the lone dragon in existence.

You, the fire-born, are the only sentient life on your world.

You must create a civilization using nothing but these seven... but know that, like with all creation myths, when the created become too numerous, and think themselves too powerful, their creator will always return to lay down its fiery fury at their hubris.

(Mod the dragon to be size 200 or something and have those dozens and dozens of scales that soak up critical hits without dealing real damage.)

Then try to interbreed your dwarves until your fort is large enough to warrant a rampage.

If you start a fort, do the dwarves worship any deities or is the dragon their object of worship by default?

If it is, then trap it in a cage and put it in your dining hall/Grand Temple to the Living Dragon God.

Actually, it might be cooler to trap it in a cage, tame it, and let it run loose in your fort.  Or maybe build it a really nice room (that you try to keep it in), instead of having a king.

What if someone adopted it as a pet?

I'll post worldgen parameters next time I'm on that computer.

I can't embark, though.  There literally isn't that option, which it warned me of during worldgen.  It came up with a window saying it was having trouble placing a playable civilization, and did I want to continue even if I ended up with a Legends only world.  I said, "Sure!"

They can only do that if you allow it.

(Not that it matters if you can't embark, though)
