Smart Phones
« on: March 06, 2010, 09:31:46 am »

So my aunt works for a cell phone company, Verizon, and I recently got a Droid smartphone for dirt cheap. I am posting this from a car, on the highway, in upstate New York. I love technology.

Discuss smart phones or related technologies here. Do you hate them? Do you love them?

As peaple are probably tired of hearing me say: i got one a few days ago, android, I love it. I got this protection thingy wearing it around my neck and it reminds me a whole lot of The One Ring. That phone feels exactly like the ring using whatever that sense you sense such things with is called.

I don't even own a cell phone. If I need handheld technology, I have a graphing calculator and a DS.

I have a cordless phone and the internet. I think you have to actually go places to make having a cell-phone worth the money. :'(

A friend of mine owns an old box (six-inch-tall) phone from ages past.

I knew someone with a bag phone. He was about twenty years late to the party.

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Seriously though, I have a very, very old, dumb phone, and it suits my needs. I have no use for anything more, so I don't really see the need.
Perhaps I'm just not that interested in such things.

Bah I hate all those new technology crap.
The only thing I use my mobile phone for is to make a call now and then, most of its other functions pass by me unnoticed or are frowned upon.

What annoys me the most are these IPhone-fanboys.
Braging with their useless gimmicks, one could easily live without.
Just overpriced toys IMO.

While for most peaple it's just a useless toy, that is not neceserly the case. I got mine basicaly as a prescription by my phsycologist, because I can never remember things, plan things, and in case I need to contact someone. Also the GPS once I get used to it might allow me to get to places without mom having to drive me there. It's a brain prosthesis.

I know what you mean, Armok.  I got a new smartphone upgrade recently, and I don't know how I lived without the simple calender.  For example, I'm talking with a friend, and he asks me when I'm free to work on our math research.  I think next Tuesday's alright, but looking at my phone, I notice my little sister's play, scheduled two months ago.  I would have never remembered that without my phone.  I can now plan my week down to the minute, from anywhere, at any time.

Not to mention having internet everywhere is extremely useful.  Don't know a trivial fact?  Wikipedia is right there to help.  Need a phone number for the local pizza joint?  A simple voice-search away, and then just tap on the number to call.  Don't know how to get to John's Audio Repair shop?  Address is on the internet, followed by instant GPS that's in every car you drive.

I love my phone.

I am posting this from a car
Are you driving?  I hope not.

People who pay attention to that crap when they should have they're eyes on the road make me angry.  One might say I'm a little biased here, since I have multiple times nearly been in a wreck due to some moron texting or talking on the phone.  Sometimes on fairly fast-paces stretches of road.  But I think that just confirms the fact people should pay attention to driving instead of phones.

Ugh yeah. Texting while driving is slowly becoming illegal throughout the US, but I think talking on a phone while driving is not. I still often see people with one hand on their ear with a cell phone while driving.
