...In my territory. Do the newborn stay here?

You do not understand the ways of Toady One. He is not a business, he's just a guy trying to make a fun game. He's invited people to come along and experience the journey with him (and help him test it out as he goes along). At the end of the day, I don't think his main goal is to sell Dwarf Fortress, its just to create the best game possible.

You might not want them to. IIRC, someone had a human siege's horses give birth and the foals ran around brutally murdering things, including the humans and the foals' own parents.

more precisely, the foals were considered wild, while the parents were tame. the parents thus ran from the wild animals, while the foals followed the programming that made them stay close to the parents. thusn they ended up chasing the parents across the map and back, while the dwarves watched with bemued expressions

Hope you don't mind, but I am so quoting this.

I've actually had the siegers themselves give birth during the attack.

One of my enemy Great Demon Spiders spawned a couple of Spiderlings. This resulted in much throwing of silk and dismemberment accompanied by gouts of ichor. Somehow, the mother's killing her own babies resulted in the rest of the squad turning on her as well.

Loyalty spiral... It happens in Adventure mode, but that's the only time I've heard of it happening in Fortress mode! Applause. Anyway, the mother killed her babies, who were hostile but still considered members of her civ. So the other members of her squad kill the person suddenly marked as a murderer... and occasionally this will keep happening and they will brutalize each other until only one spider is left standing.

I got sigged! Yay!
