The keybinding editor, likely.

You may have made a mistake when editing interface.txt. My suggestion would be to copy the one in the tarball back over, then use the ingame editor.

Worked like a charm. And I must say the in-game hotkey editor is much improved.

My thanks. Now to the fort!

2DASYNC is blazing fast for me, the other 2D options less so (but still pretty quick).  Two problems noticed so far:

(1) Dwarf graphics persist on the screen when going to other menus or hitting ESC

(2) Lever linkages don't jump to the correct door/floodgate/whatever when you scroll through the list!  This makes it extremely frustrating to use them.  If the <door/floodgate/whatever> is already visible on the screen, the X will show in the correct spot, but most of the time I just pick blindly.  It then recenters after I select what to attach to.

You know, this seems like a good time to ask.. is there a guide somewhere as to what to touch on if you're rebinding for a laptop keyboard arrangement?

The mass of stuff to play with for bindings is a bit... intimidating. Even moreso than the main game itself.

The only keys I've hhad to rebind specifically for functionality on my laptop are the four [SECONDSCROLL] entries. Everything else works just fine for me. If that's nowhere else (unlikely, I wit), it's here now. :)

All you really need is to change the SECONDSCROLLS (up, down, pageup, and pagedown) from (numpad)-+/*
Recommended is changing them to -=[]

Nothing else requires numpad really.

An interesting bug:

I have a save from an otherwise vanilla 40d where I added [CAT_MOUTH] to body_default.txt to fix the cat vermin-carrying bug.

In all 40d versions, when trying to load the save without the added raw, the program pops up a FATAL ERROR window that reads "Missing Creature Body Definition: CAT_MOUTH"

In 40d18, the program displays this error message and then exits.

In 40d19, the program displays this error message and then crashes.

Running 64-bit Vista (Intel) with an nVidia 8500 GT.

I also get a crash after the "do you want to run fullscreen" dialog box when mode is set to SHADER, but I'm several releases behind (release 185.85) in video drivers, so I'll try fixing that first.

fwiw, that crash is
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also, d19.2 under 2DASYNC is now faster than same mode under d17, which had previously been the fastest 40d version for me so far.

In 40d19, the program displays this error message and then crashes.

Just to be clear, this is the part that makes it interesting, right?

Marginally more interesting; it's not a d# issue, though it could be fun to speculate about why that happens.

Unless the cause is that message popups don't work? Does it crash if you set init.txt to prompt you on windowed mode?

Get around 30 FPS on Reinhammers just using the standard render, holy crap.

No problems so far on my end.

EDIT: You can just ignore everything below. I'd forgotten to download d19_2. It works just fine in d19_2. My bad.

I've got another bug to report.
System:
Windows 7 Ultimate
Geforce 9800GTX+
AMD Athlon 64x2 5200+ 3.02GHz (it's slightly overclocked)

Using Shaders, which work fine.
init.txt
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Any other config files haven't been touched.

As for the bug, if I generate a world and then try to embark to a site using the maximize embark area size (16x16), it crashes with this error:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Embarking with the default size works just fine. I haven't tried any other embark area sizes.

Any other information you need, or anything you need me to do? Or is this a DF bug?

EDIT: Setting print mode to standard let me embark on a 16x16 area. Setting the mode back to Shader after creating the 16x16 fort lets me load it just fine. And with 90-100 FPS on the new FPS gauge, so that's definitely nice. It just crashes while trying to embark.

Nope. It has no problem with [WINDOWED:PROMPT]
Of course, it thoroughly ignores whichever option I choose in that window, but it doesn't crash, no.

Details (probably unnecessarily redundant, but here they are):
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also the [PRINT_MODE:SHADER], as I hoped, stopped after upgrading to the latest stable, recommended nVidia drivers (196.21). In fact, I think that mode is the new winner over 2DASYNC in speed.

Secondscroll, that's what I needed. Thanks Aachen, Cobalt. :)
