The battle started on June 15th 2089 when Earth Battle Task Group transited the Luyten jump gate.
Our ships had to be careful of the wreckage of the old Exeter jump gate construction ship, Slow maneuvering till it was cleared. The men in the life pods were recovered as we found them all dead due to the months it took to put together a strong fleet that was ready to take on these aliens, The fleet auxiliary support ships loaded these men who were murdered went back home to Earth at maximum speed as they would have wanted. God forgive me for what my men are now bound to do after they have seen so many innocent civilian dead being brought aboard the ships.
Soon the Iron Duke of the fleet sent signal that enemy ships were hidden nearby with engines shut down. What the Seals didn't expect however was the Earth Echo Flagship having 20mm lasers that could reach them at 360,000 kilometers. Before the Seals could send word of our capabilities they had been destroyed in a fury of light. The alien ship broke into 4 pieces, which were again and again fired upon till they spun out of range. My men were chewing at the bit to get some time to kick some Seal ass to say the least and I gave them that first chance by allowing the continued fire.
One of my Edward Missile Cruisers dropped a load of missiles which boosted away and targeted as well. Only to be sure the Aliens wouldn't send any more signals.
Good, let them hate the aliens, Its good for them.
As the Iron Duke continued scans after the residual radiation of the battle died down they picked up a small object heading toward the fleet. At first the crewmen on board thought it was just wreckage heading incoming until the speed and trajectory was computed. It was heading towards them, and every second more began appearing. It was a Swarm of Missiles. Evil Seal Missiles.
The missiles came in and around the ships 20 at a time, but none hit a single ship. All Ships lined up for Point Defense that were capable. 6 Hood Mk1's with their 20x10cm lasers and 6 Hood Mk2's with their 6 quad laser turrets that were more than capable of tracking missiles took quick care in dispatching enough firepower to deal with these aliens firepower.
Over 60 salvo's of missiles came into our Battle Lines as we fought and not a single missile so much as touched our ships.
When all was said and done we destroyed over 700 missiles,
Then we decided to give the enemy a taste of their own medicine. All Edwards put in their targets and fired as one.
It was perfect timing for the launch of missiles because the Iron Duke quickly found new incoming missiles, these smaller than the last, and more of them. This could test our point defense powers.
And test our point defense it did, The aliens knew which of our ships was the strongest, but with a lesser amount of armor per ton. So they took aim for it, The Hook Mk2 since its design in 2070's was quite the powerhouse for Terran standards however taking one of them out would drop our point defense capability by almost 10%.
Each wave had a few leaking missiles and the aliens were incredibly lucky because the Hood began taking hits in the exact same spot, Over and over she took furious blows of nuclear energy to her more than capable armor, but every hit blew away sizable chunks, tearing deeper into her.
I as fleet commander began to get worried when I pulled up her damage reports, it was not looking good at all.
A few more hits and she would be doomed, I ordered the Hood Mk2 to begin to maneuver towards the rear of the formation but due to her new crew she had a command delay.
Luckily the last of the enemy missiles were shown on radar and there was a halt in the firing for the Hood to clear away. She took a few last hits but not enough to break her will to fight. What a fine ship she is. I will be ordering a medal to the ship captain for this day and not breaking the rank and retreating under such a tremendous amount of damage.
After a systems check we checked on the current status of the missiles we launched. Through all the battle we were so busy targeting and firing on incoming we forgot we had outgoing. They were quickly closing on the enemy at 18000km/s.
10 seconds later active sensors picked up major radiation from the area that sensors last reported ships at.
Another salvo was launched and fired at another set of ships in the opposite direction of the warp point that sensors had picked up. The seals were dumb almost defenseless, they thought they could hide, Sadly they weren't that lucky.
With the first hit to kill, I allowed a Fire At Will order to stand across the fleet and began the movement towards the Gliese Seals homeworld. Wasting no time my Edward Missile Cruisers opened up with all tubes.
the 2nd wave we had launched earlier then struck the aliens and took our a few more of their worthless asses.
2 minutes later a 3rd wave hit.
and then the 4th wave
and the 5th wave
and the final wave of our missiles, the Edwards missile tubes I am told were red hot from constant firing on the enemy.
and that was the end of the first skirmish with the Gliese aliens, I continued check with the Iron Duke commander to make sure nothing at all was showing up on sensors in the next 120million kilometers of space around us, and all was clear.
I ordered my ships to begin picking up alien survivors on their way toward the aliens homeworld.
I will just say that most had unfortunate accidents and the few with useful information kept committing suicide by repeatedly bashing their heads into clubs. A few others attacked crewmen as they were escorted to their holding cells.
We got some basic information on a few of their ships, the jump ships they had were armed with lasers turrets that were quite intimidating, but thankfully they never built any.
These are vicious animals that dont deserve life.
The current plan was not to move directly to the Seal Homeworld. I wanted to slow ship speed and come at them from another angle, so when we showed up on sensors they would be sealed in.
So The Final Solution Battle Plan was put together.
Our ships moved in without being detected and came into firing range.
The flagship Earth Echo opened fire.
The planet finally detected us within 300,000 miles. And apparently had PDC's protecting it because We suddenly began getting struck by 250+ Point Defense Missiles every 5 seconds.
Our Point defense anti missile systems were easily overwhelmed, we weren't capable of taking out more than 80 missiles at a time with the best of luck.
The worst part of it all was their target. This is what the flagship looked like after 150 missiles hit per wave after 4 waves.
The flagship was their sole target, and every strike took 1 more layer of armor off. If the battle lasted much longer shed be a skeleton of a ship with only internal components and be open to space.
I ordered the flagship to move back from the fleet to hopefully make the aliens change targets.
The aliens were dumb enough to do it.
As the flagship turned to run the Aliens got a nice bit of a surprise however.
Every turret on the ship opened fire during the turn and opened up a can of whoop ass on the seals. They never knew who clubbed them.
However the aliens continued their point defense fire as the fleet closed within 60,000 km's. And they took out the only ship that would have saved them earlier into the battle.
The Iron Duke was a fairly new ship to the Terran Navy. Having been built in 2085. The finest Command and Control ship ever designed. Ready for all tasks requiring a fleet action. She took 3 salvo's before her engines had a catastrophic failure
As We closed within 60,000 km's I allowed a fire at will order again and let all ships target whichever alien proved foolish enough to be a easy target.
Soon the battle became a short ranged knife fight. The aliens took horrendous losses at 60,000 km's but we also took terrible losses on our long ranged missile ships. They were the old Edward Mk1's which were as old as the Terran Navy itself. But they had damn fine crews and each one was heart breaking.
Few captains made it off the cruisers and even less crews.
As the battle finished, I ordered my ships to pick up all survivors aliens and humans alike for various reasons and to head back home to repair and refit. We would allow the aliens to be fleetless for 3 more months till we came back rested and ready for the ground battle to finish them for good.
