Architect's rough draft.

How about a tool that you can use to highlight rock mining to plan out your base?
Basically a faux [d]esignations menu that doesn't activate orders, shades a different color, and you can turn the overlay on and off.
Sure you can do that with normal mining but the miners will always dig where they feel like, and if an emergency pops up you have to cancel digging paths or turn their job off.

I'm sure its thought of before but I didn't see it under several searches.

Just do it with the designation tool then cut the parts you don't want mined yet off from the rest by un-designating.
