Outcome:

Himmelhand deals three damage to Security Mech.
Silhouette deals one damage to Security Mech.
Acanthus117 deals three damage to Security Mech.

Security Mech deals three damage to Acanthus117.
Two damage is blocked by defense.
Acanthus117 is now at 2 wounds.
Security Mech deals three damage to silhouette.
One damage is blocked by defense.
silhouette is now at four wounds.
silhouette is vulnerable to a coup de grace!
Security Mech deals two damage to Himmelhand.
Two damage is blocked by defense.

Combat round 4 would begin... but this happens instead:


The security mech advances on your position through withering fire and explosions, blazing away from all of its weapon ports. As you begin to fall back it crouches down and rushes surprisingly quickly, knocking defensive fortifications aside. It crashes through Higan's hasty barrier and molten pieces of its armor drop onto one of his makeshift explosives, setting off a small secondary chain of explosions near its right leg. The mech keels over, its leg shattered, and lands squarely on Higan grinding him against the deck until he resembles a fine red paste. It finally comes sliding to a stop just in front of Jackson and Marcus, trailing a long red smear. Sparks fly from its broken form and then you hear its power plant spin down as safety interlocks engage, preventing an overload.

Suddenly it is very silent in the engineering bay.

Off to one side, a very sad looking fire suppression mech slides out of the wall and begins spraying goo on everything which is on fire or molten.


Joe, when you look back at your PDA you see that the reinforcements have gone to a different deck following a security alert near the cryo and medical bays.

Medbay.. earlier, Joshua was heading there! Joe flicked his radio to transmit.

'Josh, get away from Medbay and Cryo.. serious firepower of the mecha kind is heading in your direction.' He paused, waiting for a response.

'Meet me at engineering if you hear this.. the maintenance corridors seem safe.'

You were, and I completely missed your action. I apologize, I've been high on flu medication. However, since combat is over this isn't a big deal.

Sorry Leo, I can't have random people appearing onboard. The players I start with are the players I finish with. You can certainly join in next game if you like what you see. Each game will have a different theme.

Doom counter is now 2. Fate has been invoked.

Higan pops his head out of the wreckage off to the side, and you notice that the red streak you thought was him was actually just a can of old red paint the mech crashed into moments after Higan jumped out of the way. Boy, that was a close one!

Higan is at 2 wounds, having avoided all damage during the last round.

Anyone can invoke fate to get automatic successes on their rolls. You succeeded on both of your defense rolls though, so doing that wouldn't help you.

I did tell you before than you could probably heal wounds given the right equipment, ie medical facilities.
