The best starting psi abilities to start with is Mental Blast and Optic Blast.

Then find the "x-ray" power, and spam through walls.

Optic Blast and Regeneration, I would argue.

Regeneration turns you into a psionic tank and Optic Blast means you have an infinite ammo superlaser.

Well, infinite right up until you run out of CHA.

You start with 4 cans of nanocola, and in case of emergency Regeneration has an outrageously huge success rate and healing quantity - you can regen charisma faster than they can kill you.

Yeah, I just got done adventuring with an Optic Blast X-ray Goggle Equipped Psion. That it way too overpowered for anything. I only lost because I picked up a bunch of stuff and was too slow when I entered a previously cleared room that had 3 Cylon Centurians.

I just died on level 1, to a Tribble.  Like, singular, a Tribble.

Apparently a pile of spacejunk is heavy, cuz' the think got in like ten attacks on my computer programmer.  Could I have done anything with that junk?

ZAPM - An incomplete guide to an incomplete game

INTRODUCTION


ZapM is a science fiction "roguelike" adventure game in which the
intrepid hero -- you! -- explores a derelict space hulk in search of
the fabled "Bizarro Orgasmatron", rumored to be the most powerful
artifact in the galaxy and the only hope of saving the universe from
an unknown doom.

ZapM is intended for an immature audience, and contains foul language
and probably some fart jokes.  If it were a movie, it would be rated
PG-13 and would have gone straight to video.

The game is free (and frankly, you're getting what you paid for!), but
if you actually like it and play it then I say you owe me a beer or a
postcard or something.  Email me (cyrus@zapm.org), or look me up on
the Zapm web site (http://zapm.org).  There's also a bulletin board on
the site where you can talk about the game and submit bug reports.

My spess marin died due to radroaches being invincible.  It bit me until my muscles stopped existing. 

I had 14 strength and it does -1 per bite, right?  So, 14 combined turns of shooting it with a blaster and/or punching it didn't kill it.


My new Computer Programmer seems to be stuck.  On the first floor there's an orange and a green lock.  The second floor's got an orange lock and a door that leads to a single empty room.  Haven't found any hidden doors, either.

I haven't even hit level 2.  :<

(EDIT:  Luckily my feet work as lockpicks.)

At the empty room, try holding s for a long time. Might reveal a hidden door.

Yeah, I tried that, but found nothing.  I ended up just kicking through the door with my mighty 16 strength (?!).

He died to a clerkbot on L4.    Goddamn Space Orks spawned in the shot, hucked all his stuff, and then blasted me with it.  I guess he got pissed when I forgot maybe shooting at them while they were still in the shop was a bad idea, cuz' after I killed 'em all and walked in he zapped me dead.

He had crazy amounts of mutations, too.  ...He couldn't really use any of 'em, but still.

Also peashooters are awesome.

I keep getting bad luck with canisters. I've died at least 3 times to liquid nitrogen, once to plasma, once to anti-matter, and I just identified my first canister found in this current game as more liquid nitrogen, luckily without drinking it this time. All of those deaths except the anti-matter were within the first 3 floors. I think the RNG seriously hates me, but isn't trying to be obvious about it
EDIT: I just died by drinking plasma again. I had radiation poisoning and was checking if my unidentified canisters had any Rad-Away. I die, check my possessions, I think you can guess what was in that last container I never got to drink

The Robot City clerks are pretty easy. I blasted them all up with my laser pistol and took all their cash and stuffs. Of course, what am I going to do with 20k monays when I robbed all the shops?

I warn against zapping the clerks not in robot city. They tend to have zappers that knock you out and insta kill you.


Also, beware ninja turtles.
