Noble Digger: Hey! But olivine is soothing, dark-green!

Olivine is certainly the best from all common-cluster stone types.

Of course it is - it can actually contain something useful (platinum).  Of course, the color is the best of the bunch, too, which is probably what you meant.

I use the "Natural" color scheme from the wiki, which makes Microcline a pleasing grey-blue, actually very nice. Doesn't do much to help Orthoclase though.

I like the color and about the only time I have had trouble with it was in a white sand desert where the top 5 layers of stone on the cliff I dug into was Microcline and Orthoclase
Not surprising since not only are they both feldspars, they are also the same feldspar. =)

The DF geology is funky. It separates orthoclases that only differ in the level of matamorphosis but only knows one kind of sand for all minerals combined. =)

I kinda like Microcline. I mean, it is a pretty decent blue (and since the only other blue stone in game is in veins) and works well for my mosaic courtyards. My problem is that I can't designate a large mining project and leave for 10 minutes without worrying about the pause happening two minutes in.

I make my towers out of Microcline, bauxite, cobaltite, and cinnabar. And it really is pure coincidence that these are the stones hated most by forum ppl. I like to think that it makes my Fortresses easier for goblins to find.

Bauxite is love, bauxite mechanisms mean magma. Magma!

Think about it.

So, basically, it is just a matter of luck whether you live or suffer horrible death... sounds like dwarf fortress.

More mcrocline lovers!  ;D
Really, if anything most rocks are too... un-eye-searing? And it's blue!

Only orthoclase exceeds microcline, and only then because I love yellow.

I likes it. It is pretty colored.

I'm not even bothered when the game focuses on it because I rarely embark on a map with a lot of it. It's Jet and all the other non-important-non-kaolinite rooms.(splotches of kaolinite+normal stone room= awesome appearance)

Definitely agreed, and it can contain Serpentine (which I modded to be the same bright green as Garnierite) which is why it's olivine

Note that green glass nicely supplants olivine, though ;)

With my mod (that is, no aquifers or large clusters, I have trouble even finding microcline.

I use a natural color palette instead of the default. Microline looks quite beautiful, even more once smoothed out.

Jeez, am I the only person here who likes Microcline? :-\

I find plenty of uses for it. The light blue makes for excellent, visible levers for instance. Also, my prisons tend to be made entirely out of microcline; I find the psychological damage it can wrought makes my dwarves far less likely to break the law.

But I also make all my tables and mugs out of cinnabar, so that might have something to do with all these crazy hats.

Then sometimes they don't mention when they hit clusters of gems.

obviously the miners are trying to distract you with "ooh bright shiny rocks" while pocketing gems for themselves.
