sigh in relief that I have not been dedified by another's rash (read idiotic) actions

pry the hemispherical-ish cap protecting rear headlight and take a section of cloth from the top of one of the seats

>see what happens when I try to filter the liquid through the seat cloth (into the rear light cover) if it appears to work somewhat but not fine enough use one of my socks (it doesn't stain clothing after all) being that the substance is not petroleum (no flame) , severely acidic (look at all the splashing ed did in it), or that powerful a base(no smell or discoloration) so there is possibility that it is water with a suspension of some innocuous chemical in it

examine the filtered product

check the gas tank, and engine

just noticed it...

adam: you wrap your jacket around a pipe section and attempt to fill it with the oily stuff, the first attempt you manage in soaking your jacket and getting some of the sand coating the inside of the pipe jacket 'cup' accidentaly, the second attempts see you with an inch worth of oily stuff in you 'cup' as you go to aquire a crystal you find it is securely 'rooted' into the pool but you manage to pull a smaller crystal about 5 inches long from the pool along with what look like crystal roots, and you put it in your cup. The crystal is leaning ageinst the pipe in the 'cup' loosely.

also if you make a move now I can do another update.

I'll look around again. This time searching for any signs of animal life.

In addition, though this seems to be a unique world, not based on another, out of paranoia I shall walk without rhythm as long as we are in the desert... or any desert for that matter.

exactly what I thought (****ing sandworms) when we arrived, and why I haven't tried to get the engine running

and since Adam's discovery I don't have to hack up my jeep (for now)

to note the crystals are opaque and colorless, the sand is light purple.

ed:you dig further in your second hole and find more sand moistened by the black oily substance.

adam:you would fill up you 'cup' from ed's diggings but its still only moist not a pool. (if you mean sand, you fill the cup with sand to support you crystal)

100killer9:you jump in the oily pool, it is about four feet at the deepest and wading in the oily stuff feels most akin to standing in vinegrette, but other than that it is non harmful.

kenton:you search for signs of any animal life, seeing no movement and no difference to the sands but the ones made by the group, but as you search you realise you are getting thirsty.

mason:you pry the headlight cap off and attempt to filter the oily stuff but your end result is strangly what you started with, afterwards you check the gas tank and engine and find them intact, you join in kenton's hunt for life, and find a strange rippleing effect about eight feet in lenth in the sands the opposite direction from the nearest crystal patch from the jeep, as if something were moving slowly across the sand and beneath it.

Keep digging down into the hole until either:
-A puddle of the liquid forms
-The sand stops being covered
-I cannot get out (or the be more accurate, I can get out but not if I keep digging)

great..... giant worms in sand and a liquid lying about them.... sandworms and the bloody water of life.(woot what a choice precognitive powers and potential horrible-horrible death or potential not-so horrible death a few days down the line)

>back into the crystal patch
and then
>wait to see what happens to those who drank the liquid/oil/water-of-life/whatever
