That looks interesting, but I've had bad experiences in storyteller-type RP games with the general public.  And only one 'player' player is pretty limiting.

I thought it was awesome until I found out someone else was controlling everything else.  I know it's a little crazy to think all of that could've been procedural, but a Cthulhu can dream.  I still have Cleverbot, even if it is a pervert.

Jason Rohrer's New Gamist Manifesto

I have thought about this game and this manifesto really for only a couple of minutes, and they strike me as an answer, or opposition to DF and Toady's approach (it stuck in my mind, that the main goal of DF was procedural storytelling).

Edit: I have thought about it some more, and discovered that this game appeals to me as a person interested in health and education aspects of gaming, in that it can be a good game for a child and a parent to get together to play (the child as player 1, the parent as player 2 - the GM).

Modern games manifesto:

1. Game is a 10m wide corridor to go through with things to shoot at. ...and looking good.

Hey, let's argue!

Actually, I think, Jason Rohrer and others like him, denouncing dumb shooters, may have psychological problems. :) To me it seems that playing games (video or whatever) has primarily entertainment value, with adults, at least. Or to put it in a more straight form, games are used to relieve stress. So, it's all good to make art out of some video games, but to say, that anything that's not made by self-righteous indie developers is bad, isn't right.

^ A hyperbole included.

No argue about that.

But its a fact that game making corporations are looking for ways to make the most easy to make game for the largest possible profit. Normally i would say that its logical but will lead to consequences that the players will turn down those short-no innovative-shallow games. But for to me unknown reasons they accepted them as a new standard.
I agree that they provide them with entertainment...but i canīt figure out how.
That said, while i donīt think that "Game is a 10m wide corridor to go through with things to shoot at. ...and looking good."  hang on every game company COīs office wall, but is well written in his mind.

Uh, I don't really play modern games (due to the lack of money ::)), but I've thought that people, who play them, usually enjoy it (I suspect that people who denounce big corporate titles speak about downloading them by means of torrents for the reason they still enjoy them, but some primal feeling makes them rage about these titles afterwards). And if they've enjoyed it, they've had entertainment. The game's goal has been achieved... Maybe the main problem lies with money, even? People just are torn between $60 in their pockets and spent on a game?

For some reason, however, I think it will go horribly wrong and have small children have sexual pictures in their libraries. Some people get erotic over slideshowtype... things.

To be more serious. I think the fact it only uses 2 players to be very limiting. If it had a RPG sort of build behind it with some serious gameplay and allowing more players per GM, it would be a great idea.
