QUEST PROGRESS

The Party has gotten aquainted with this mysterious thief, and have decided to let him accompany them. The party now has 8 members (the maximum amount, for now), not counting Bill the Pony.

The Party, now gathered around the wrecked wagon, turn to the path, and find.. that they have forgotten which direction the path was in... and the sun is not visible through all the branches and leaves, making it impossible to tell direction. The Party has no choice but to wander along without a path...

LOST IN THE WOODS: GAME MECHANICS
Each time you leave your area, the DM will roll a D6.
1 = Plot event (quest progress!)
2 = random encounter (bandits)
3 = find treasure! (abandoned wagons, etc.)
4 = random encounter (wild animals)
5 = random encounter (elves)
6 = Planar shift (to be explained later)

These mechanics will become inactive once you escape the forest.

Dwargza intones "Let me activate my powerful Dwarven Earthsense ability!"

With that, she spins around and dizzily points in a random direction.

Pathfinding roll = 5: encounter with Elves!

Wandering the woods you see a strange old man in grey robes. He has branches of holly wrapped around his head, like a crown. When he sights you, he approaches you, deftly trudging through mud and brambles - he must be an elf.

"you.. travelers... you haven't seen a, uh, purple-robed man around, have you?"

The Druid continues speaking to you:

"If you ever encounter him, I would avoid him... he seems to be quite the sorcerer."

The druid glances sadly at the woods surrounding you.

"Many times he has profaned our sacred grove with his arcane power... I think he seeks to pervert the power of the woods for his own needs..."

She also looks around the woods, but her Dwarf senses tell her nothing-except that the oak would make a good chair...willow is good for crossbow quarrels...nothing better than a mahogany table...

"Actually, now that you mention it, Prothaa has been awfully quiet lately. We didn't accidentally leave her behind, did we?" Raith noticed, but turned to the Druid "Don't worry, past experiences have taught us not to trust anyone wearing purple."

"The trees seem fine to me."

"No our trees, but others beyond... our forest has long been a conduit between the mortal plane and that of the spirits. The restless dead and the souls of the wood have long dwelt here, beyond the veil. With the right conditions, you can enter their domain. I think the sorcerer sought to use the conduit to reach the realm of chaos, and contact the horrors that dwell there."

the Druid's voice begins to rise angrily..

"and his tampering has thrown off the entire balance of the worlds... spirits now pass between planes unwillingly as they are dragged by the winds of fate. The sorcerer must be stopped if our sacred grove if to ever become peaceful again."

Dwargza says "Well, Druid, I guess your happy frolicking in your little grove here...but we got business to settle with him...justice, plain and simple....also, I want his hat. That hat was snazzy...it will be mine...

Also, your saying there's different realms and whatnot? How many are there? And how do you get to them? Maybe we could fix the damage done, or at least keep him out for awhile."

As an aside to Acanthus "Sunberry wine is piss. You haven't lived till you've tasted Vintage brewed Dwarven Ale....mmm, ale..."

"Hmm... I guess we can't have our forests getting fucked up, now can we? Where'll we get all our sunberry wine?"

"indeed.." he responds. "It will not be long before his corruption leaks from the spirit world and enters ours."

Also, your saying there's different realms and whatnot? How many are there? And how do you get to them?

"there are many more than just the spirit realm, but it is the only one I know of. By ingesting a particular fruit you can commune with the spirit realm for a short time."

He rummages in the pockets of his robe and produces a berry... it is green-orange in colour, and has a peculiar, oily sheen.

"take these, and the path should become clear.."

BILL THE PONY gains five hallucination berries! get more by looting elves!
